Jason's surprise visit to Canada
I opened the front door. Jason was standing on the doorstep with his luggage!
Jason has finally come to visit me in Canada, nearly three years after I emigrated. It seems acro training skiing and paragliding trips to Turkey have been clogging up his schedule. He will be staying with me for 10 days. I had no idea he was going to visit.

Jason: 'Well, I got two hours or so of paramotoring in yesterday. In very light wind it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and it took me two attempts to get airborne, then I just flew around a bit while Andre snapped some photos and video for his website. I have to say, for a first flight in a paramotor, I got really lucky. The weather and conditions were beautiful and I must say a big, big thank you to Andre for taking me flying and welcoming me to Canada!
After Andre got airborne, we went off on a 90 minute flight over pretty much flat terrain. We saw miniature water falls; industrial areas; a quary; and loads of farms and vinyards with workers waving to us. It was cold, so we headed back to the launch site to warm up before getting another 30 mins in the air exploring the other side of launch. Mark was as sick as a parrot; he had to go to work and hadn't been flying for 6 weeks. I managed to turn up in Ontario on the first flyable day for ages.
Andre dropped me off at Mark's work and we headed home before going out for some dinner at The Red Lobster; well, I am on holiday.
Not a bad first day in Canada...
The motor was pretty loud but with ear-protectors on, I didn't notice it too much when flying. I didn't hang around in one place long enough for it to be annoying to anyone. Landing was easy, I just killed the motor and landed into a slight head-wind. I'm not sure I'd fancy a nill-wind landing in a paramotor though, they weigh 20-30 kg, depending on how much fuel they have in them, so you'd probably have trouble staying on your feet trying to run off your airspeed.
