Countdown to Annecy trip
| Having missed the Oshawa airshow this year (for a picnic!) I have been grounded for the last week, which seems like ages after all the flying that Andre and I have been getting done recently, but I do have some interesting things to look forward to.
Jason and I are off to Annecy in 4 weeks!
This will be the first time we have seen each other in a year. If any of you happen to be in Annecy the same time that we are, say hello and maybe we can hook up for some flying and a bit of filming for the website.
Jason has generously bought me a new GPS unit for the trip. This is after already having bought me a vario/altimeter; a brand new wing and a new harness! It is nice to have such a generous brother...I just need a new radio now (hint hint)
Jason, Andy Brazier and I will be in Annecy for two weeks of pure flying fun-no girlfriends in tow! We will be staying at the base of the mountain, about 30 minutes drive from the launch area. We chose to stay with Irwyn at Maison du Moulin, which Jason continually refers to as Maison de Moule (dumbass!). This is a paragliding haven with a good cooked breakfast and dinner as well as comfortable accomodatation, all within a stone`s throw of the Doussard landing field at the south end of the lake (nearest the Col de la Forclaz launch site). I am hoping we will be able to produce an `almost live video diary` on a daily basis, but I have yet to ask Irwyn about his internet access.
Jason is then off to Oludeniz in Turkey to compete in his first acro competition on his new acro wing. He fully expects to finish last, but you have to start somewhere. I have yet to do anything more exciting then a spiral dive (although I can lose 5000ft in just over a minute).
