There seems to be a magical weather phenomenom occuring whereby directly upon arriving at the field the wind drops to zero. I finished work at 4pm and Andre picked me up at quarter past. After a quick stop at Tim Horton`s (Canada`s famous coffee and doughut chain) for essential supplies and a brief argument with the drive through cash machine we were on our way.
The take off spot - A well groomed field with great access to some interesting flying.
On arriving at the field we were greeted by a fellow pilot who had seen us flying on Monday evening. He had seen the trailer with two `racing wheelbarrows` (Andre`s joke to inquiring crettins) on top and guessed we were the powered paragliders he had seen earlier in the week.
He stopped by for half an hour and was very interested in the equipment and particularly in the launch. As I said, the wind dropped from a strong breeze to dead calm just after we arrived so take off was a little tricky but we were soon both in the air and waving goodbye to our single onlooker.
Thermals were kicking off all over the place so it was possible to go off power intermittantly and just take in the scenery. Andre was flying unpowered for quite a while. We headed towards the hydro station and accompanying lakes for a closer look.
You`ll notice that Andre likes to fly nice and low
Let`s hope that engine doesn`t quit!
This is a small waterfall not far from our launch site
Back at the field. This is a great spot to fly from. Thanks to the Staff family for allowing us to use it
