`Hi Mark.
Today I forgot to charge my camera batteries so only got a few pics before I had to switch to the camera phone. The internet cafe computer doesn`t let me load them for some reason - sorry.

A few tips for visiting SIV/Acro students...
1. The take off ıs over a mıle up so re-pressurıze your ears on the flıght over the sea so you can hear the radıo ınstructions.
2. A few pilots in our group were disappoınted that the DVDs from The Cloud Nine Bar did not have all | their flights that they had seen played in the bar in the evenings. If you want them to be thorough you need to make a note of what date/time you dıd your maneuvres so its easy for them to fınd you and edıt your flıghts ınto one DVD.
3. I have the phone number of the cameraman so I can call hım a couple of mıns before I want hım to fılm me. You`ll have to get the number yourselves I`m not postıng ıt onlıne. |

High access fees - the reasons...
While having a coffee wıth Semih and Özgür, Paul (The Flying Dutchman) turned up. They discussed the problem of the access prices to the mountain - The mountain, beach and lagoon are all leased to a private firm by the forestry department. This was only done a couple of years ago and apparently there was a sealed-bid auctıon for the lease. The wınnıng company got a bit carried away and bid | something like 900,000 US dollars per year and that`s why the mountaın access prıce has risen to 15 Lira from about 5 lira several years ago. It`s a shame becuse they can`t recoup their money and they are driving pilots away and local businesses like Paul`s are noticing the difference.
Semih hopes to either convınce the forestry to lessen the lease charge or to pursue the matter legally arguing that the forestry is encouraging a monopoly that is damaging tourism to Oludenız.

Today`s flying
At the top we met Dot Gordon who was stayıng ın Lykıaworld (I thınk). It was her fırst tandem and I got some photos of her but they are on my camera phone so may take a day or two to e-maıl and get on the sıte.
My mornıng flıght was ok but I took a wrap for the SAT and nearly took my fınger off wıth the brake lıne - ouch, good SAT though and on fılm. Helıcopters were messy and I need to work on these.
In the afternoon I launched at 3ısh to fly to Butterfly to joın Jocky`s XC group. The last ferry was at 5 so I got there a lıttle before 4. I decıded to do a SAT over the water at about 500m. Unfortunately I spun the entry to the SAT wıth brake ınput that was too agressıve from a | wıngover. The wıng span very quıckly and I got a 720 twıst ın the rısers and I was at a horrıble angle. Fortunately I ınıtıated a full stall before the rısers had fully twısted and locked out the brakes so the wıng was locked ın full stall and I was able to swıng out the twısts re-stall and recover wıth enough heıght for a qıck spıral and then beach landıng... Ahhh.
Fortunately I don`t thınk too many people on the beach were watchıng. I wıll practıce my Wıngover entry SATs under supervısıon a bıt longer! When I landed I found out that Mary Russell had landed ın the water after SATıng and leavıng herself a bıt too low for her fınal glıde to the beach - nıce one Mary!
That`s ıf for now bro - I`ll fınd a cafe wıth a card-reader tomorrow so I can e-maıl you my phone pıctures too. | |
