In A Wonderful Life you may link up to Friends of Mineral Town to collect special bonuses, and likewise for FoMT to AWL.

Contents

Requirements

  • Gameboy Advance
  • Gamecube
  • Link Cable
  • A Wonderful Life
  • Friends of Mineral Town

How to Connect

To connect the games, first have them both turned on, and the Gamecube and Gameboy Advance connected with the link cable. Then, in Friends of Mineral Town give an offering to the Goddess by throwing something (ie. a tomato) into the waterfall, such that you are facing it directly. In A Wonderful Life, head up the path leading to Mineral Town, and you will soon be stopped by the sprites. From here you will be told that you need to have the Gamecube and Gameboy Advance connected; continue on with the conversation until communication begins. After communication you will be told whether anything new will occur or if nothing at all will happen. You may then disconnect the systems and do as you please.

Important Notes

  • Many times you will fail to see either Van or Ruby. When this happens it is usually because there was a festival on the day they were supposed to arrive. Simply make sure nothing is coming up on the days when they should first arrive and all should be fine. Of course, it may be best to check in advance if anything is coming up of which you should be aware.
  • You need to connect multiple times in order to get updates. Generally, when you want a new record, play a month in AWL and two weeks in FoMT. Then connect them, and you should get an update in FoMT. Once you get your new record and/or recipe in FoMT, reconnect with AWL and you should get an update there as well.
  • It helps a lot if you befriend Van and Ruby in FoMT. Often if you talk to them they'll have no updates, but give them a gift and talk to them again and they'll have something new.

Records

When you connect for the first time, Van will pay a visit to Mineral Town. He will then also sell you a record player, which if you buy will allow to buy future records from him. In order to get more records, simply keep connecting the two games and--providing you keep playing in both--you should soon find yourself with all of the records.

Recipes

Ruby will also stop by in Mineral Town, and if you befriend her she'll give you new records in both AWL and FoMT. To see these recipes, take a look at the recipes section for those two games.

Other Bonuses

There are two other bonuses you can get in FoMT after connecting enough. For one, you can get a character directory for the characters in A Wonderful Life, including your character and his family. And second, the most-favoured, you can get a new beach house! This makes for a great addition to the town, and it's well worth the stars you had to collect.
