| We flew from Bieda's Motor Sports at the weekend since the regular field was hosting a big event. This is a playground for big kids to play with big toys; skidoos, quads, dirt bikes, jet-skis and just about anything that has an engine. We arrived a little after midday. Imad (who loves big toys), Csaba, and Ray were all eager to fly. Imad was to make his first successful flight today in near perfect conditions. Csaba, Ray and I took off for a nice late afternoon flight towards Lake Erie. We were all together until about half way when Ray turned back due to lack of fuel. Cebo and I continued, low over the open farm land, just admiring the view and marvelling at how much fun these 'flying armchairs' can be! I was flying Andre's tandem, which is really fast. It is also a struggle to launch. The extra few pounds make all the difference. It has a considerably improved climb rate though! You can be several thousand feet up in a matter of minutes. Csaba was keen to get a closer look at the sky divers in the distance as we approached Lake Erie. It was great to see them from our perspective, being in the sky at the same time. I decided it was probably best not to encroach the 'drop zone' and we pushed on towards the lake. Csaba was now a little concerned that he was getting low on fuel and after one brief pass of the lake shore we climbed away and headed back to the field. Csaba had at least another 20 minutes worth of fuel left when we landed, but it was the right decision. I had well over 60 mins of fuel left. I guess it is worth having a full tank when you launch. We arrived just as Andre was taking off. There were now four of us buzzing around Bieda's field getting a good aerial view of the dirt bikes jumping on the track. Everything looks so different from the air. We soon landed and started to pack up. Imad had left by this time, but not before he had made his first ever take off and landing. According to Andre both were very good.
It is no understatement to say that Imad enjoyed the experience. He'll soon be joining us on our trips to the beach. A great day. Nothing broken...... Nothing lost!
