*freakout mode* I am going to be in hog heaven come the release.

So first of all, to be adressed, this is to take place 70 years after the finale of the firs series. Aang has died and passed on the duty of Avatar to this young, supposedly rebellious waterbender named Korra (who may or may not be a descendant of Sokka so as to avoid being coupled with the only living airbender who is the child of Aang and Katara) According to the Wiki she's already mastered three of the elements, and only needs to learn Airbending now.
There's some kind of rebellion with Anti-bending (the thing Aang did to firelord Ozai to seal his firebending. Apparantly anyone, even non benders, can anti-bend) And she has to stop it.
That is the extent of my knowledge.

for information about the series which I don't feel like explaining in full detail right here, see the wiki

Is it just me or did that place which I assume to be Republic City (where the antibending revolt is happening) seem like 1800-early 1900 england? If you looked at the clothes the people were wearing, and the way the buildings were designed?

EDIT: Also according to the wiki, since I was wondering what the heck she was riding. (It's a Polar Bear Dog named Naga by the way) She and her animal guide were inspired by Princess Mononoke.

I swear when this thing comes out, I am going to turn the TV on, watch it, and then either faint or scream.

Is it just me, or does Korra look like she has Sokka's warrior's wolftail? That's cute.

Anyway~ I'm a little disappointed that they appear to have chosen to go a bit more modern with the settings. I liked how naturalistic the Avatar world was.

Edit:
I've skimmed over the storyline, and I don't think everyone can do Aang's spirit bending technique. By anti-bending, it appears that people don't like benders anymore. The technique they're using (chi-blocking) is Ty Lee's special ability as it were. I've just skimmed so far, though.

Yes. But it appears to have advanced the equvalent of several hundred years in just seventy.
That's a bit far-fetched.

According to the Wiki, it seems to be an isolated event. Republic City seems to be the only place mentioned with that kind of growth. Next to that, the most industrialized places are in the Fire Nation, the the Earth Kingdom, then the Water Tribes, then the Air Nomads.

Also, it could've started out as a fire nation place *note fire bender policeman in video*. They were pretty darn advanced to begin with. So 70 years after that could possibly have that effect. The fact that they'd just had a war and were then in peace for a decent amount of time could've helped.

Wow! I did't know there was finally a preview released. I also didn't put into factor that there would have been so much modern build-up.

Haha! I thought that the image in the video was Central Park, NY. XDXD They did advance pretty drastically....

But it look sooooo cool. I freaking loved Avatar and I'm glad to see it's returning. Looks like this new person is not afraid to fight back.
I hope we see Aang's son/daughter or whatever. I'm sure he had one....

I believe it's been confirmed that Aang's son is the one who is going to teach Korra how to air bend. When the series starts she will already know how to bend water, earth, and fire.

Just by watching this trailer ten billion times, I think its safe to say that firebending is possibly her most often used form of combat. But it also looked like the rebellious thing might've been true also (note random agni-kai it appears at 0:42) That firebending thing may or may not have been an underground battle, judging by the location, kinda like Earth Rumble 6 in the original series.

Also is anyone else confused by the flying bison in the very beginning? Appa should've been the last one, and he was a male bison, so they should be extinct now, right? Unless somehow sky bison have an enormous lifespan...

EDIT:
So apparantly Republic City is like, the only city, and was founded by Aang and Zuko back in the day.

Ahh, no wonder she's bending fire already. Wow, so she only has to learn one more bending ability? I guess they'll be focusing on different things in this story.

Right now it isn't planned to be as long as Airbender was. It's a mini series.

Don't be too sad though Oscar. I thought the same thing, but get this: When The Last Airbender started, it was only a mini series. It became so popular, the writers decided they would make more seasons of the show. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasmile.gif)

26 episodes is how long it will be. It will be 2 seasons long with 13 episodes each and the overall length of one extended season of the original avatar seasons.

I am okay with this.
