I just don't know about a Mac... :/
What's the difference, I mean? Edit: I may be a PC girl. ;w; I don't like most of what I'm reading, especially the cost... |

Ahh, well, the cost is really what holds people back. But I think it's worth it. If you don't have money for it, that's fine.
It's just I've had bad experiences with PCs (or technically Windows). My PC also broke down and I had to spend quite a lot of my own money on getting it fixed and it didn't get fixed. -_- I think I spent a bit over $500 on it. I then threw the thing on the floor and kicked it.... Same with our desktop (it's a Windows) and it's really buggy and SLOOOW. But you could be better at handling them or luckier. They are better at gaming, so if you really want to game on your computer, then a PC is best, I suppose. Though if you're only going to play Sims 3 on it, then a Mac is still best. :D |

PC: low cost up front, but my require repairs/more money to get it exacly how you want it Mac: better graphics, but high upfront cost. Apple does free repairs, but not upgrades. |

Well cost isn't really a PROBLEM as I'm saving up, but I'd like to get it before I'm thirty. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

Twi: Haha, well, money really is the problem, then, if you won't afford it until your thirty. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Hopefully you'll be making money sooner than that!
Can't you ask for it as a college gift or something? That's how I got my laptop. But then again I wasn't going to be having to pay for a dorm.... |

Money is a big problem in my (immediate, living with me) family as it is. This was SUPPOSED to be a High School Grad gift, but my computer is so shizzed up it's even ripping up our internet (somehow?! I know it is!) because the internet was perfectly fine before I plugged this in. ;[
So now it's kinda a "All my job funds go toward this and mom pays 100 dollars kinda thing." And my birthday is coming up soon, so I'm hoping I can sucker the extended family into paying me money rather than giving me gifts... Cuz my extended family has like multiple laptops, Ipads, stuff like that. -_-; |

Perfect! Save up some of your money. Your mom will give you $100 and ask your family for money on your birthday and you should probably have enough for a Mac! They are currently on sale ($100 cheaper) and they offer you free apps from the App Store, I believe. It's a good deal.

I didn't like some of the stuff I read about the Mac. Like... Not having an X button to close windows. Just the small things I'm used to. >_> Oscar, can you give me a link to one of them? |

What?! Who said there wasn't an X button to close windows?! *stares at his at the top left* There is an X button, Twi. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
And a minimize button and an enlarge button. Like on a PC. That might have been some freaky old article or something...I could've sworn they've always had an X button. http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/ I recommend you get one of those. Mine is the 15 inch. You could get the 13 inch; it's cheaper. |

I'll consider it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I'm still waiting for other opinions. Usually occuring ones would be good.
Alright, what can this baby do, Oscar? Like gaming wise and stuff. How does it run? :P Also, yeah, that article told me no X. Guess it was lying. :P |

There's a bunch of info on that link I gave you. Look at the little tabs on the top that say "Software", "Tech Spec", etc. They'll have videos and everything for you! It'll explain it better than me, especially since I don't know the technical stuff very well. I do know it's not that awesome for gaming like some PCs, though. BUT they're working on it. And their photo editing programs and video editing ones are amazing.

I was going to insist you tell me about it, as I like word from the people that own the product better, but since you insist you're not as technical about it, I'll read about it.
But just know! I'm SOOO leaning toward PC. It's gonna take some earth shattering things to make me change my mind. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ; Also, I can't watch videos, as I can't have sound on. So I'll have to skip those. :P |

What, you can't have sound on?
Ahh, I see, you're looking for more of an opinion from someone who isn't trying to sell you their product? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Well, I guess I sort of am trying to sell you on it... Well, you don't really have to worry about viruses, since they're much more rare on a Mac vs a PC. MUCH MORE. I don't have a virus protection program downloaded at all and have never gotten a virus. Ever. From what I've seen, Macs are much much faster than PCs (Windows). They are so slow to turn on, while my Mac turns on in less than a minute. :D Or a minute, I guess. And once you log in, you don't have to wait for anything to load. You can jump in to anything you want. Umm, I've enjoyed their photo-editing program and movie maker. There's a bunch of neat little features, but I don't use those much. I like their App Store. I can download the new update to my Mac (Lion) for an extremely cheap price versus downloading the next Windows update (when 8 comes along) for a much heftier price. Safari and iTunes work way better on a Mac than a PC. Umm, I don't know, any questions? |

Has it ever gotten slow when you've had too many things open?
Do you think GIMP would run? Urm... Yeah, that may be it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I'm not looking for a high end, top of the line laptop, which is part of the reason I'm so reluctant. I just want something that'll run GIMP and Sims 3 without, like... Killing itself. AND I WANT SOUND DANGIT. Yeah, um... X'D My computer is so busted that if I enable the sound, it crashes. A lot. I have to go into the Control Panel, click Device Manager, scroll down to sound, right click it, and "disable" it. Right now, if someone wanted to show me a video or song, I'd have to save it to my Ipod and watch/listen to it on that. :| I have no idea what the cause is, and quite frankly, I don't care anymore. I need a laptop before I go off to college in a year anyway. Why not. |

It doesn't really get slow, no. Sometimes you could notice a lag, if something is loading and you are quickly switching, but it's nothing annoying!
Yeah! There's a GIMP Mac version. The Mac is simple! There's not a bunch of little steps involved in order to do things. I remember there being an article about how it had like 10 steps on how to connect to the wifi at McDonalds for a PC versus the two steps it required for a Mac. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Ugh, sounds like my PC in its final days. The wifi wouldn't work and I had to SMASH the button that turned it on in order to receive wifi. I wasted so much energy on that thing. =/ I say the next best thing to do is go to an Apple Store (I love those places) and try out the Macs. You don't need to go with the intention of buying one, but just try them out. And you gotta LOVE the trackpad. You can do multiple finger gestures to zoom in, zoom out, scroll, click, wipe up or change to different programs. All with the slide of a finger. Literally. |

Cooooome on. You know you want one! You can search articles online, too, that compare PCs to Macs. I really say you try one out in person and then try out a PC. I guess a PC will feel more familiar to you, but sometimes the exotic is more appealing. ;) |

Macs can be a pain in other ways, though. They're a little bit more expensive, and if you ever have a problem, you must get it fixed through Apple. People like the Geek Squad at BestBuy won't touch it. Plus, you have to hope that the games and stuff you may want in the future will be Mac-compatible, or you may have to wait longer for a Mac-compatible release. There is a program you can buy to run Windows-only stuff on a Mac, but, of course, you'd have to buy it.
I can't personally offer a suggest, just a couple of tips when buying. Stuff like the price you see on the laptop isn't all you'll spend a lot of the time. The charge for the operating system is often not included, plus there's insurance and installation fees if you don't know how to do it yourself. I personally have a Toshiba laptop. It works fine for me, but I don't do much besides play Nancy Drew games and watch YouTube videos. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Just my two cents. |

... Sorry Oscar, Crystal just changed my mind for good. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
I don't want to have to take it to a specific place to get it fixed... ;w; |
