Who's looking forward to the Olympics? Anyone already been in on the fun? |

My dream for half a decade or so was to move to Vancouver just in time for the Olympics D: I can't help but feel disappointed that dream never came to fruition. I would still love to move there one day.
Soo, I've bought some Olympics merchandise including a Sumi plushie :D It is awesome. I got it practically as soon as it came to the stores back in 2008. |

I will be watching. I'm keeping my eye on the snowboarding halfpipe. That looks like it's going to be intense this year.

The Olympics start tonight at 9 EST / 6 PST. I'm hearing that Terry Fox's mother will be handing the torch off to a hologram of Terry Fox who will then light the cauldron.

Well, that certainly isn't something that was expected.
I feel bad for the team and the family of the sport participant. |

Hard to imagine working so hard to get to the Olympics, and then dying the very day they began.

Is it morbid of me to say it's a good thing he died doing what he enjoys?
I mean, I don't know if the guy felt any pain or if it was an instant kill...the news source I read didn't have any release on it. At the same time, it's a bit ironic. Either way, it's really sad. My sympathies to the family and team mates. |
