Yeees. Charmy, you didn't miss much. They have more girls than guys at this point. :|
Pumpkin: Yeah, judging by the article, it DID say that Sarah "makes friends with everyone" while James "talks to pretty much no one but his sister" That's gonna be amusing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) |

Yep James and Sarah are gonna be a funny pair (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) .
I'm so glad RF3 is coming out soon. It's the only thing I have to keep me from obsessing over the lack of new information. |

James and Sarah are going to be fun, but I still want to know more about that Bianca look-a-like.
This has me worried. Link |

We posted the same thing. Different sites, though. <3
I really don't like that. I mean, yeah, first time playing as female... But come on. ._. How else are people going to get to like the idea if they don't have equal footing? |

I just noticed that we posted the same thing, but yeah on different sites.
Why did they do this to us? All we wanted is to play as a girl and now they are making it so we can't have as many options as the guy. *screams out of frustration* |

I really don't think weening us will help. :/
It's great for us to play as girls... Finally. But then THIS... Ah well. Nothing can be done about it. And I like James anyway. <3 |

I won't mind this as much if they have good marriage candidates for the girl. James looks to be a good character, I like his look and his personality so far.

I think that's fine. Because it says "Azel has about as many potential women to woo as you’re used to." And in the last two Rune Factories there were more then ten marriage candidates. It would be really hard to make a normal amount of female marriage candidates plus an equal amount of male ones. It also says "the bachelors available to her are a little lower". So I'm guess there will be two or three more girls but nothing huge.
So far I think there will be nine female marriage candidates and six male ones. |

I don't think it shall be too much longer until more people (or anything in general) is revealed. I'm sure a lot will be around the holidays... And the rate of the time that passed between this article and the last was not long at all. I await further info. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasmile.gif)
Totoro brought up a good point that this dude could be a bachelor... Or just Sonia flirting. (IMG:http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae328/OrangeKat1/untitled.jpg) |

He could be a bachelor for sure. I mean Sonia is blushing and he looks like a guy in her age group. So it makes sense if you could marry him.
I also await new information. |

QUOTE It would be really hard to make a normal amount of female marriage candidates plus an equal amount of male ones. Dunno, the flagship series pulled out a stunt in Magical Melody, spawning ten or eleven candidates for each gender. Those were the characters in THE SAME game (at least on GameCube). If a 6-Gen console can handle it, why possibly couldn't PS3 and Wii? Or maybe it's just the mechanics that prove too difficult to make too many candidates? We have yet to get some info on the actual AI. Will NPCs' behaviour be as stationary as in RF/RF2/RFF, or will they continue with the [undoubtedly successful] dynamic patterns of RF3? In case of the latter, it could be possible that even with the powerful hardware in hand, the studio might still find it a bit difficult to fill the game with too many characters all doing something at the same time. Considering that the series is developing at a notable pace, even the inefficient experience can pay (just like crafting things with low skill yields mostly no items, but raises your chances to achieve the goal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ). Considering that RF4 is most likely to be developed for 3DS (whose advertised capability is close to Wii), we may even get a more traditional gender choice option with LOTS of brides and grooms to everyone's taste. |

I don't think it's the mechanics or the system limitations. I think it's the simple amount of work involved to get it released on time.

Or maybe they just have a tough time being able to make so many guys and actually be unique and creative with each one? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Lack of inspiration is what I think. They are used to making reincarnations of the same females in very RFF game, but this is the first time they have to start out fresh making bachelors from scratch.

Most guys in Frontier weren't exactly... bountiful, no. So it may very well be inspiration.
And the fact that they've never had a girl character before may be a weening aspect here. |

Well, they have had Aria and Rune Factory 2. Though I'm sure as time passes they'll have equal amount of female and male candidates. Me, I'm not really bugged. I like playing as a dude, as mentioned before. Unless one of the guys really strikes me fancy....
And I'm unsure on which Rune Factories to get for my birthday.... D': RF2.... Which I have to see if it was released in Australia. Probably. I would have just missed it. I hope. RFF, or RF3. |

Dunno, the flagship series pulled out a stunt in Magical Melody, spawning ten or eleven candidates for each gender. Those were the characters in THE SAME game (at least on GameCube). Yeah but all the marriage candidates in MM were very simple. They had nine different lines that they just kept repeating. Plus all their events were exactly the same. It is much more complicated in RF games. In RFF the girls each had their own storyline with on average of eight different events. Making 20 or 18 of those would be very difficult. Plus they might just think their male fan base is larger than their female one. |

Well, such thinking is logical in terms of demographic division that Japanese pop culture is based on. According to that, Rune Factory is a definite shounen, even with its ultra-bishie protagonists. Then again, if the authors were not aware of the female part of the fandom, I suppose there wouldn't be characters like Brodick, Max, Gadzhi and Carlos.
(of course, the general Harvest Moon perception of female tastes may be less conventional than we think... what with those gourmets and kappas (!) for marriage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ) |
