Does Grandpa's evaluation count all items you've shipped including those from previous years in the game, or is it only for the year you're currently on? It seems close to impossible to ship 4500 things in a single year.

Just in case anyone else was wondering, I eventually discovered that the number of items shipped IS cumulative, so it counts all the years you've played.
