Alright, this is something I decided to do after obssessing over AWL for the Summer Group Play (so AWL better win!). I wanted to mix AWL with Glee, and yes, I mean the TV show. So I decided to write this. I hope you enjoy, and if enough people like it, I may continue to post chapters, as this is just chapter one.
Just so you know, the story is mainly told through Jack's thoughts, with the bolded lines being spoken dialouge. QUOTE A Very Glee Harvest Moon
Chapter 1: Return to the Valley It had been a long time since I last visited the far off land of Forget-Me-Not Valley, not since the days that my dad ran the farm. It was kinda fun, I guess you could say, but then again, I was only five, and at that age anything ‘outdoorsy’ is fun. I remember the people of the valley were all very nice, always complementing me on something or other. But the last few letters that I got from dad made it sound like the valley had changed. He would never say what exactly, but I could definitely tell something was up. He seemed… full of… glee? Yes, that’s exactly what it was. He was gleeful. Now, it’s been a few years since dad passed, and I haven’t been to the old farm since I was five. Who knows what has changed, but why I’m going to the old farm, I have no idea… Something just seems to be calling me. “Next stop, Forget-Me-Not Valley!” the train conductor yelled back at the passengers… or should I say me? I was after all the only person on the train… everyone else got off at the nearby Mineral Town. The train stopped at the top of a high cliff… how on earth do they expect me to get down from here? As I looked around I noticed a sloping path leading down into the valley. I started down the path, and before I could even get down to the bottom someone called out to me… “Hey Jack! It’s been a long time! I haven’t seen you since you were just a little sprout.” The man standing at the bottom was none other than my dad’s old ranch hand, Takakura, or Tak for short. “Hey Tak, it really has been a long time, doesn’t look like much has changed though.” I said as I met him in the basin that was Forget-Me-Not Valley, almost wishing I had gotten off the train at the Mineral Town stop, but what kind of person would I be? After all it was Takakura that had sent me the letter that asked me to come back to the valley, but he had never said what it was he wanted from me. “I was wondering if you could help me on the ranch for a few days, it won’t be long, just a week or so.” Yeah, right. I know Tak learned all his secrets from my dad, and this was one of my dad’s oldest tricks to get me to do work… I’d be here for far more than a week or so if I agreed. For some reason, this place did have a happier note about it than when I had left it all those years ago, I just couldn’t put my finger on it though… “Sure Tak, why not, I’ll stay and help. But only for a few weeks, I’m not staying forever.” But even as I said those words, for some reason, I just knew I would be here longer than I wanted to. He started leading toward the old ranch that I spent the first few years of my life on. As we passed by another farm I could hear something… Something that sounded like singing? Why on earth would people in this place be singing for anything? What reason do they have? “Oh, there’s something I forgot to mention. Something that might turn up every now and then… or more often than not…” Tak said as we reached the small bridge that led further into the valley… |
