One of the worst-received Harvest Moon games is the first one they made for the DS; HM:DS or Sprite Station.
It was the first HM game I ever played (or DS game, for that matter). While I thougt there were several excellent aspects to atmosphere and gameplay, there are quite clearly a lot of points that needed serious improvement, including a ridiculous number of glitches and ridiculously hard, time consuming goals with no benefits and no kind of multiplayer "leader board" or achievements system. The point is, would you be prepared to play a remake of Harvest Moon DS if the many faults were corrected, and perhaps new features were added? What would merit buying/downloading (3DS and existing DSi features could mean downloadable updates/expansions for games) and playing a remade version? I thought it would have been a really great game if only there wasn't so much missing or broken with it. And since a lot of new Harvest Moon games don't seem so great or innovative to me, if they made a proper, gold version of HMDS (with Cute combined) and some lacking features I'd like to see, I'd probably buy it. The only way this seems likely to be possible is if Marvelous wanted to make it for the 3DS. Discuss stuff like what you'd like to see and what you'd need for you to buy it, vote in poll, etc. |

To be completely honest, this game would have to be practically new to me in order to play.

Well, expand on that. What sort of stuff would you want, while retaining the setting and characters?
I'd like to use this thread to come up with ideas for a kind of HMDS 2, as it were. |

I would say yes. Although I never truly experienced any harmful glitches and what-not, I still think it was missing that charm that every HM game has. If they were to boost the graphics, add in some more interaction with characters, and somehow made getting a spouse less of a hated chore, then I think this game would be a lot better.

My largest complaint was they tried to make the game way too complicated. Maybe my mind's a little lacking compared to other people, but I don't find thousands of levels in a mine or a hundred crop levels to be fun. I quite enjoy the simplicity of growing crops without worrying which level they are. Keep it simple.
I was also peeved after saving up for a chicken coop and a chicken, that it was all destroyed in a hurricane :\ |

I know, the levels thing was crazy. It didn't really amount to anything that your crops were level 24, because there was nothing to spend the excess money on. And there were all those Farm Titles you could win with your Farm Points, which took literally years to accumulate to anything almost significant. The mine system was crazy, with repetitive level after repetitive level filled with annoying creatures and no variation, and accessory or cursed tool treasures that were nearly impossible to find.
Hurricanes also wiped out buildings very easily, making buying cheap buildings made of wood completely pointless, and a barn with animals falling down would completely wreck all social progress, with no kind of damage and repair system that could have been implemented. |

Ahh the weather! I forgot about that! It was rediculous having that fear that something you took time to save up for could get destroyed in the blink of any eye.

My cousin pawned that game off on me. I was happy until I played almost a year into it. Then it made me rage quit with the insane things that seem unobtainable. They do need to fix it greatly. Or a remake or forget this idea and begin the Process of getting Rune Factory 3 on our shores. :D

If there was ever a remake, I would love it if it were made less complex and difficult. Having a successfully running farm is already a difficult goal to achieve but then there are all these other tasks required in order to actually get something nice out of the whole game.
The Farm Degree system made it seem less of a simple game about farming. Plus, it's useless. All you get from it is a fancy shmancy title. I'm not sure what else you get out of that but it's basically just a representation of your experience. |

I'd replay it if they fixed:
The goals. A ton of Harvest Sprites simply to get married and the fact that your game could glitch up at any given time ultimately destroying your progress with it made me angry. Like Saffy said the mines and crop levels were a bit too much. They gave you something for getting to the bottom of the mines, but honestly how could you with out supplying the best restoring items? It was too much, a hundred mine levels is enough. The glitches in general need fixed and anyone who has played the game knows what I'm talking about. The island house wasn't even worth getting really. It was one of the last things anyone probably would get and for what? A small fishing spot. Things like these listed above would need to be fixed in order for me to buy it. |

If it fixed all of those things then yes I would. I feel like there was a ton of potential there, but it was poorly executed.
Oh and I forgot to mention the hurricanes destroying structures and killing animals. That was disappointing. |

No. A terrible game, even fixed, would still be terrible in my eye.
It's like spraying dog crap with perfume. It's still dog crap, but a little less stinky. |

I think that it wasn't a terrible game; the flaws made what was potentially a good game into a poor one. If there was slightly more content and a lot of problems fixed, I'd buy it again.

I don't think I would buy it, even with fixed and better improvements. Although, like Saffy said, it would have to be basically a new game in order for me to even be interested.
I did enjoy playing it, and did like a lot about it but eventually it annoyed me with it's glitches and basic issues. |

I really liked HMDS but it would have been better if it was more like FoMT, I never really like AWL especially the town format. I like the big town, not the empty country. Forget-Me-Not Valley is too boring.
But I did love being able to marry a mermaid and sleeping beauty. And more character customization would be nice! |

I would love an HMDS remake! As long as it has the same graphics as AWL.
