That's if they have a halfpipe. Lolz, I heard about that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) The Winter Olympics without snow...hmm. Saffy, aahh! I want that Sumi thing now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) And poor man, at least he was good enough to be in the Olympics and that says something. |

Sumi is amazing.
Are you watching, Oscar? I quite enjoyed the native part at the beginning. |

Oh no, I'm not. I completely forgot about them today. I was helping my cousin out all day, but I will watch them now!
What is going on at the moment? |

All the countries are coming out. You've missed a good chunk of the opening ceremony.

Nuts! I will go watch it right now! It's on NBC, I believe. They've been advertising the thing a bunch. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

I like how Canada gave the USA a warm welcome.

Overall, I was proud to watch the opening ceremony and definitely enjoyed it. Admittedly though, I am a tad disappointed with the lighting of the torch, which doesn't help considering it failed to work properly as well.

Just a minor setback in an otherwise fantastic show. I kinda hoped Leonard Cohen would've joined KD Lang, but no dice.
I really liked the costumes of the fiddlers. Also I liked how the presentation was 360 degrees, and not a rectilinear stage. |

My disappointment stems from rumours that a hologram of Terry Fox would appear to light the torch. I found this idea really cool and was disappointed that it did not occur. Given the spectacular show put on, I was hopeful something of the sort might still happen but nope. Otherwise the torch lighting was very good.
I agree with you on the presentation. The show was just amazing. They really surprised me. |

Yeah, I heard those rumours on the radio when I woke up yesterday. I laughed.
You always hear ridiculous nonsense proposed whenever a mega event is approaching. The general public has no awareness of where we are technologically. It's the same thing whenever a new game console is announced. Revolution was supposed to have holograms and tactile feedback! And how exactly is an image composed of light supposed to hold a physical torch? We didn't run the flame 42,000 km just for an image to 'pretend' to light the cauldron. |

I completely understand. I couldn't envision an image somehow lighting a torch without it looking quite poor. It just wouldn't be the same. Would you have a machine to set to do it along with the image? Would someone else do it in sync to the image? I was curious to see how one might pull that off properly.

In which event? I'm not watching right now. The last event I watched was a bit of skiing earlier.

I've been watching the Olympics constantly. I'm really happy for Canada, they finally got their first gold on home soil. Obviously I'm cheering the most for team USA, but I was really rooting for the Canadian to beat that Australian guy.
If the US isn't playing or already doesn't have a chance, I usually go for Canada or the UK. Or Germany, cause I speak German. :P |

Well he is Canadian-born, but he's wearing the Australian uniform, so he's an Australian.
