Hard to judge people now a days, doesn't necessairly have to be black and race doesn't matter really, but I guess it partly has to do with they could blend easier I guess you could say?

So they stand out less, visually. How does that make them dangerous? Other than accidentally walking into one, that is. |

Well my sister once dated a cop who was telling us a story about how he pulled over a man who was speeding, and the man (who was black) mentioned that he was only picked out because of his skin color and that's why he was pulled over (he was going pretty well over the speed limit)
Well my sisters boy friend had told me after the story that actually some cops do probably watch them more and find them a tad harder to trust because about 75% of crimes are commited by blacks, well that was the statistics he had mentioned. Probably why some see them as dangerous. |

Probably why some see them as dangerous. "28.3 percent of people arrested for offending were black" Source And that's just percentage of arrests. Don't deny that black people aren't arrested for nothing, everyday. Many of you are probably too young to remember the LA race riots. |

Hmm maybe the statistics he gave were in my area, it was a awhile ago too, couple years or so I'd say. And yeah blacks and other races are arrested a good amount for doing absolutely nothing. I've never heard of the LA race riots or atleast I don't think I have so I am probably too young for that, could you sum it up for me on what happend?

I'd be afraid of any strangers in a dark environment, but I probably wouldn't be in a dark environment in the first place. unless it's my room at night. And if a stranger was in my room at night... well. I don't think race would be my first concern. :P (psst, Edward Cullen is white as white can be *cough*) Personally all the people I've known that have committed crimes were white anyway. Practically everyone around here is white or Asian, and I did hear about a Japanese kid stealing a car from a local parking lot, I didn't know the guy.
As for the main topic, I always liked red hair, and think it's pretty dumb for people to hate on it because of the "others!!!" syndrome. But making a complete idiot of yourself complaining about it (especially on the internet...) is only gonna add fuel to the fire... |

It's not just that it's a black person. I'd be equally afraid of a white person. I just don't feel safe with around certain shady characters, and night would make it all the more unpleasing.

You don't have to explain, GS is nothing more than a stranger lover.

It could be. I don't trust most strangers. I'm very cautious around people.

That's correct. I'm generally quite paranoid of being downtown once the sun goes down too.
Now, that doesn't mean I won't talk to people I don't know. I do get into the odd pleasant conversations with strangers which turn out to be pleasant. However, I am very cautious and will often go out of my way to avoid what could be an awkward situation. Regardless, I find myself dealing with less than desirable characters. |

I got lost in downtown LA once and wandered into Compton. I was stabbed immediately upon entry and I am currently dead with no wallet.
Seriously though, I hadn't once in all my time living in the city felt paranoid or actually been in any real danger. The freeways are more dangerous with the way people drive out there. |

Was that alone or with people? I'm perfectly fine as long as I'm with someone else most of the time. Being out at night alone tends to creep me out though.
