I was wondering if the PS3 is region protected?

You might want to double check, but my friend with a PS3 said he was gonna import FFXIII when it came out in Japanese. I looked it up and it said no region protection. I doubt its only that one game, but just didn't want to screw you over.

I'm importing FFXIII too; I already played the demo version and it worked just fine.

It's not so much that the PS3 is region-free... but I DO know that Japan and the United States have the same region-encoding for Blu Ray discs. Trying to play it on a European PS3 may not work because of PAL vs. NTSC and stuff like that, and the region encoding could block that too.

But if you're in the US and thinking of importing games from Japan, you can just buy an American console with no worries.

Alright, thank you so much. Really there is only one game I want to import right now (Tales of Vesperia PS3 version).
