The difference feels negligible due to anyone saying an anime is essential would be because they... like it... Anyway, I like Robotech/Macross (Giant robots, action, drama), Lupin the III (Comedy, Action, Adventure), Read or Die(OVA = Spy-type stuff, Action. Anime = Action, Light Comedy, Adventure), Astro Boy (Action, Adventure), and Big O (Giant robots, Action). I won't even bother mentioning all the Miyazaki films.
edit: It may be better to include what genres these are. Better for suggesting. |

If you want truly epic anime, and not just favorites, I think His and Her Circumstances was just that: epic. All sorts of amazing emotions put into five little disks. Its a shame, the writers sort of gave up on it at the end though, so the last few episodes are weeeird.

How in the world could you guys miss Dragon Ball Z? D; For shame. That show was like, an anime soap opera of epic proportions. |

Its a shame, the writers sort of gave up on it at the end though, so the last few episodes are weeeird. I watched like...4 episodes of it in random order and they were quite weird. However I read all the books and I absolutely adore them. So now I think I'll try and watch them again, its been a few years. The storyline really is amazing and I just love it. Thanks for bringing it up. |

I know people have their own taste so I'm gonna try not to be a dinosaur.
But no way in KFC does Bleach, FMA, or Sonic X deserve the title Epic. |

Okay epic animes;
Fushigi Yuugi. Oh my word. Rurouni Kenshin. Oh my other word. (not the cheesed out toonami version) Fruits Basket is only epic in the manga. The anime itself is sort of... candy coated. Oh and how could I forget. Neon Genesis Evangelion was epically confusing as heck. ._. But I must say, also without being a dinosaur. FMA has a lot of funny episodes, but everything about that anime turned out to be tragic and epic. >< It caught me quite off guard. Then again, I tend to classify my anime as epic based of the amount of tragedy. So who can say~ |
