I know I said this already! But this looks amazing. To be honest I almost feel like I want to make my own HM game, but watching videos on YouTube, and looking at stuff online, it looks very complicated! Good luck with all this and keep up the good work. :D

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I made it to test the "going to bed" event. When my little debug character goes to bed, the clock moves a day forward (unless they go to bed after midnight, in which they would just wake up late at 8 AM that day), and they get paid. I have it right there outside because it makes testing crops more convenient. I need to make sure that all the different crops work, since there are 27 varieties... Ahhh, I see. |

Yeah, it's super complicated.
I just figured out how to put together half of the cooking system (the part where you put in your ingredients and it spits out a dish :P), which is nice, because it had me stumped for nearly a week, slowing down most of the progress. Now I have to figure out how to build the recipe shortcut list. -sigh- I don't know if it's laziness on my part or an opportunity to make deeper characters, but I've lowered the marriage candidate count to 8 for now (4 bachelors, 4 bachelorettes), unless I'm suddenly filled with new ideas. Bachelorettes: Mayor's daughter, blacksmith girl, seed shop girl, tailor shop girl Bachelors: Musician, Library/town hall boy, Rancher's nephew, Innkeep's son Businesses so far: Animal Ranch, Seed Shop, Blacksmith, Inn/Cafe, Bar, Hair Salon, Tailor Shop, General Store, Clinic, Library, Fishing Company |

Character design is actually a part that I tend to get stuck on. I only have a few vague ideas of what I want, and I *think* I've set up a basic list of the marriage candidates. But most of them are only titles right now, they don't have names or concrete personalities, or item preferences yet. Even the characters that I have an idea of what their personality should be like, and what their appearance looks like, still don't have any names. The only ones I know are library boy, mayor's daughter, blacksmith girl. The rest are kinda floating about in limbo. I did draw a little picture of the blacksmith's... granddaughter? for morale. (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/rinfin/f7e89bbc.jpg) But it's not finished, as you can see (and she still doesn't have a name (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalacry.gif) ). I'm thinking her grandpa is a retired swordsmith who moved to (name of town here) for the relaxing scenery yadda yadda and now does work making tools and things for the people in town. His granddaughter has an interest in gemstones and making jewelry, and she's been studying some of her grandpa's craft. Maybe she even has some swordfighting skills for coolness points, I dunno. HM always seems to have random Asian people here and there, so why not have them making tools and accessories this time. Lol! She looks awesome, like an actual HM character. Well, if you need help (aha! from me??? Cx) I could help. I mean, I sprout with ideas of original characters, and I can draw myself. Just... Don't have any way/idea to get this into the internet world. Which is one reason why I haven't been frequently on OoS (no character yet!). Still... I have a whole bunch of ideas, and can help ya' think more. ^^ Ahem! Note: I am /really/ good on thinking of female characters, now for males, I need a head start. x3 And names just depend on the persons personality and where they are from, maybe also how they look (for me...). Well... Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing more original character art! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalagrin.gif) |

Nurse Fin, if you want help with character development I'm up for it. I say add a hair salon girl and a church boy. Or something. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Or not a church boy, like a boy version of Keria.
Something Asian. D: |

I don't have too much to update with, graphic-wise... I've been pretty busy putting together all the different recipes, which is fairly time-consuming considering that there's a couple hundred of them, some of which having a large variety of possible combinations >.>; But I have to get all of those things out of the way before I can get to the more fun stuff.
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/rinfin/996ad146.png) (it's tinted to morning light, so that's why the colors might look really different) I fixed the grass tile by changing the palette and reducing the number of colors to 3. I think it looks a lot better now; a lot softer and not so bumpy. Sand, surprisingly enough, is ridiculously hard to make, and still have it look like sand -_-; So I just went with a 2-color palette; I think that looks best. I also made a tile for bushes... after I clean that up and make one for pasture grass, I'm done with my nature floors! Yay! Not including mine graphics... or the seasonal variations, but seasonal variations are pretty easy to make. There are still a lot of man-made kinds of tiles I have to do, though. A few more fences, boardwalk, brick road, and so on... then there are things like walls/roofs, and cliffs. And objects. Lots of objects. And indoor tilesets. Heh. Oh, and I made the sprite for Blacksmith Girl. Still have to finish the templates for dudes and kids, though. |

Nurse Fin you are so gifted at making these things. D: Its like, zomg.
Are you going to include previous HM characters in the game? I saw you made sprites of Candace and Kathy from earlier. Again, if you need ANY Help you hesitate to ask. |

^^^ She mentioned in the first post that she was just using those to test her game. I do think it would be cool though if characters from recent HM games stayed at the Inn every once in a while. I kknow it's probably a lot of work but, eh, a boy could dream. Keep up the nice work. ;)

Isn't she supposed to be wearing white and yellow(?) instead of red, and purple? Overall, keep it up Nurse Fin~ ^^ |

I love rereading your posts Nurse. To tell you the truth I dowloaded the maker to try out for 30 days because to be honest I've always had this HM idea and I thought this would be a perfect way to do it. It's very challenging tho. My point? Your obviously very talented with this which even gets me more excited knowing that your making this. :)

Thank you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ;; Getting feedback helps improve morale.
About the clothing colors; when I made that concept sketch I hadn't finished coloring her outfit so I left it pretty blank. I later decided to go with red bandanna thing, black undershirt/legwarmer things, pink obi, purple shorts, and a red/white checkered haori (jacket). I also finished designing the fall/winter outfit, but I haven't done the sprite for that. I want to keep the fall/winter appearances a secret. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/emot-iiam.gif) Working with RPG maker to make a Harvest Moon game IS pretty hard. I had already put together an experimental test-bed kinda thing for the social system long before I decided to make this, so I already had some idea of how it can work out (that's why I'm saving all the events and character programming for last). Even then, I have to make a lot of compromises due to my limited knowledge of programming and the game engine's own limitations. I have to think outside the box on how to make things functionable but still fairly streamlined. Making a game like this realizes how many things we take for granted in HM games, there's even a lot that goes into just picking items up and putting them away. And even after I get core functions all set up (which I'm maybe... 40-50% done with), there are the more interesting details, like holidays/festivals, tv channels... things like that are probably where I'm going to ask for suggestions. There could be a pretty fun variety of things to do if people have creative ideas. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalagrin.gif) |

Well, I guess now she has designed clothing. I wonder what the fall/winter outfit is... I just know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/emot-iia.png) . ^^ Yeah, I started an HM game on RPG maker, but I'm best at imagining characters and things that involve them such as events and stuff. I created all the characters I thought of, and tryed finishing some places with some events. But I stopped doing it, it's a game that was never... Ever finished. I think I have it in a disk somewhere though... Can't wait to see more of your progress! <333 |

Finished Kaede's artwork, yay
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/rinfin/6b4ba949.jpg) Yeah, I finally gave her a name. The others should be coming soon, probably by the end of October (I'm going to lose a week while I'm away) |

That's so cool. I also love how you didn't just give them a picture of them smiling, but instead you made the picture give them a more personal look where we could get a clue as to how the character acts. :)

I wandered over here from deviantart, and I got to say that this is pure awesomeness.
I admire you for having the patience to work with RPG Maker. This looks like a cool game! :D |
