Percy Jackson & The Olympians Series, The movie and the books Options

For those of you who don't know what this is, shame on you! It's the best book series ever! I love it! And it's being turned into a movie! Yay! I can't wait. Anyway, for those who don't know, here's what it's about:

Percy Jackson & The Olympians is a series of adventure and fantasy books by Rick Riordan. Set in the contemporary United States, the series is based prominently on Greek mythology. The series consists of five books, as well as spin-off titles called the The Demigod Files and Demigods and Monsters.

The protagonist is a 12 year-old boy named Percy Jackson who discovers that he is the son of one of the gods. He learns that the legendary beings of Greek mythology still exist, including Cyclopes, Empousai, Titans, and of course the Olympians (Greek gods) themselves who are in Olympus on the mythical 600th floor of the Empire State Building. Monsters frequently attack him because he is a Half-Blood (someone with one parent who's a god and one who's a mortal). Percy meets many other young demigods, both friendly and hostile, who are also in the process of discovering their heritage and powers. In the first book, he discovers his heiritage, and that he's been framed for stealing something of great importance. So begins his quest to find the true thief, and discover a much greater evil along the way.

Since the first trailer was released yesterday at the Harry Potter HBP movie, I say that we begin the countdown! :] 211 days!!!

Yay! I'm happy they finally announced it. I read about this a long time ago when I just read the first book and then looked it up on Wiki out of curiosity. It's about time they started advertising it! I can't wait for it to come out.

Yep! I'm super excited, too. Hey, I just finished the first book, too! I lent it to my mom for her to read, but...I sorta, started reading it myself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I've given it back now. I can't wait for it.

The chapter where Percy visits Luke's mom and they see that flashback where his mom goes all ballistic was so sad... DDDD;

Uh, Percy? I guess? If it is Percy then is one of the very few times my favorite is the lead character.

Of course, the library doesn't have it. Oh, and I checked to see if they had Demigods and Monsters while I was there. Turns out that's one of those 'what other authors think of this series' books.

If they have books, they should have the book. LOL! If you don't want to buy it just yet, you can go, look around, make sure no one's looking, and start reading it in the store. Then mark your place, put it in the back section, and come back the next day to read more. xDDDD

I don't have the money to buy it. I don't mind spoilers too much, 'specially not when I can see it coming anyway. I don't mind waiting for the Last Olympian either, seeing as I've got like *counts* four others books to read first.

I think that people need to stop ragging on it, and just give it a chance. They have no idea what they're gonna do. People complain about Annabeth being too old (it doesn't bother me much. It's amazing what they can do with make up) and her being a brunette. A.) It's called peroxide, and B.) when Rick Riordan first told the story to his son, she was a brunette. It wasn't until he was writing it that she became a blonde. Sorry. I'll stop ranting now.

But I don't think the Grover guy looks goofy enough to be Grover.
And I would pick a . . . messy Percy. But I think that can be handled with some make-up and wardrobe.

When I was watching the trailer, UGH. Logan Lerman looks a little too old to appear like a 12 year old. THEY SHOULD'VE CHOSEN JAKE CHERRY OR SOMETHING! (God I love that boy to death.) 8D

And sorry Zenny! (Eeep!) ... But the girl playing Annabeth is 23.

That's a little too old... If she's supposed to be playing a character like... Half her age. ;x

Blehh... I'm hoping that they'll make the movie REALLY good so I won't be THAT unsatisfied with it. T_____T

I heard a rumor that the characters are gonna start at the age of 16 and go up from there. The cast really doesn't bother me. I'm giving it the benifit of the doubt.

Well, I'm so depressedddd.
There's like, lots of reviews and stuff about the Percy movie just being a "Harry Potter wannabe". Like. What the pooey. = =
That whole Harry Potter thing is just wack. I mean like, if they actually read the BOOKS, they'd know that the Percy series is NOTHING like Harry Potter. Urgh. Just cause the movie's directed by Chris Columbus doesn't mean it's just like HP. =____=

Annabeth's actress is TWENTY-THREE?! I'm sorry, Zen, but that is way, waaay too old. What if they decide to do the whole series? She'll probably be in her thirties by then. I hope this doesn't end up a disaster like the Eragon movie. T-T

Nope. Really doesn't bother me. They do stuff like that all the time. You just don't realize it because the people look really young. If you've ever watched Hannah Montana, the brother, Jackson, is supposed to be a teen, right? He's 32.

Ehhhh, that guy doesn't fit my idea of Nico. I picture this kid:

Moises Arias. He's the kid on the middle right. The way he dresses in that movie and does his hair. He's getting older and stuff, but he looks young, and he fits how I picture Nico. Plus, he plays Rico in Hannah Montana (yes I still watch that show; I've watched it since it first came on! >P). Rico, Nico...I like him.

Is it just me, or this guy like, 'Oh, wizards and demigods are clearly the same thing, and similiar sets and logos means blatant rip-off'?

Yeah . . . I dunno, it sounds like the guy is trying to say, 'I'm an idiot! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalagrin.gif) ' or 'I've never read the books, but I totally know everything about them!'

There may be a bit of plot similarities, I suppose, towards the beginning.

Well, that explains why Jackson is looking so much older in recent commercials . . . but still. I really think actors should be as close to the target age as possible. I suppose Moses would make a good Nico, but I don't like more recent Disney actors too much.
