Stolen from Bulbapedia. :3

Nintendo has confirmed a 2009 release for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, DS remakes of the principal Generation II Pokémon games, Gold and Silver, which were originally released for the Game Boy Color in 1999 in Japan. Speculated by fans to be in development since the release of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the remakes will take gamers back to the Johto region, found west of Kanto — this time as Generation IV games.

The games will most likely be able to link to Diamond, Pearl and Platinum as shown by game data.

HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released in Japan this fall, possibly on or near Nov. 21, the 10th anniversary of the original release of their namesakes. International releases will likely come in mid-2010.

Darn it! I was gonna post this!

I really enjoyed the first version of these games. One of my favorite Pokemon games! Who knows when the USA will see this game though...

Most likely in March of 2010, seeing as how that is about how long it took us to get Platinum.

I thought Saffy would've made this topic. I told him last night and stuff. =\

In any case, I'll for sure be picking up Silver. I may import Gold just because of my memories of it being the first game I ever went through the trouble of emulating. God bless PR Translations, even if most of the game was still in moonspeak. Of course, Heart Gold also makes me think about the Starship Heart of Gold, so that's a bonus. Freeeeow!

I'm getting both, so I can have all three starters and the version exclusives.

But I'm sure you can get all 3 starters without buying both!

I'm gonna pick Chikorita as my starter, as always. :3
Maybe I'll train a Hoothoot, Ledyba, Miltank, and a Vaporeon if someone trades me a water stone.
The team will probably change as time goes on, though. D:

Man, I hate Serebii sometimes. I can't get a good look at the screenshot at all. Still neat though.

Also, Totodile is better than all you jerks.

After reading FC's post I realized how awesome this is gonna be. Being able to catch my some of my favorite pokemon right out of the gate. So awesome. Havent been able to do that since the other remakes, and even then I didnt really start playing pokemon until G/S/C and you couldnt get Chikorita off the bat in the other remakes.

Think they will have the pokemon bug catching contest? I used to love that.

Also... is that Chikorita standing there? Do you think they will finally let your starter/first slot walk beside you? Besides like 10 of the girliest pokemon in that stupid garden thing.

Look at that creep Silver watching the Prof through the window. D8

Plus, new artwork for the starters.

The only art that looks new to me is Chikorita. =\

If this remake's anything like FR/LG, they'll probably try to keep it more or less exactly like the original games besides the obvious mechanical and graphical upgrades. So we better see all the fun stuff like the daily siblings, the bug catching contest, and so on. Of course... I wonder what new areas they'll throw in like the Sevii Islands. Though I suppose if we just go back there again with them being more expansive (along with the rest of Kanto being expanded on better than in the original G/S) it'd be cool.

After red and blue the best pokemon games _O_ didn't like the rest all that much. But I'll definetly get this.

Heard it will be released in japan at the end of this year, so since I'm in japan then anyway I'll pick it up together with a DSi. Man I can't wait for this :D The memories alone are enough to make me feel all happy inside :D
