FoMT-AWL connectivity issues. Options

Ok, I'm having trouble getting Van to appear in my FoMT file. I'm friends with him on my AWL file and I'm in the 3rd chapter, but after connecting I went the next Wednesday on FoMT, but no Van. It wasn't a holiday or anything, but it was snowing. I've tried getting him again on other free Wednesdays, but with no luck. Did I somehow lose him that first time? Or am I doing something wrong? I've tried looking for an answer in various connectivity FAQs, but I haven't found any answers yet, so was wondering if any of ya'll know why this might be happening and if there is a way to fix it. Because I really don't want to have to start all over again on both files D:

EDIT: I just got Ruby. She didn't come until a few Sundays after I first linked though, and she came on a holiday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaeyes.gif) I thought she couldn't come on holidays? Weird that she came on the holiday but not on the other free Sundays. Maybe my file is so messed up I can't get Van until a Wednesday is on a holiday too? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
