~Gameplay~

Controls -

- B is used to talk and inspect
- A is used to jump/throw
- You can jump around with the A button. You can jump over streams and rivers... but watch out! Falling in the river may cause loss of stamina-- but you might also find things like gems or ores! A jump can also help in farming. By combing farm tools with the jump function, you can spin around and water a large area.


The bazaar –
•The bazaar happens once a week on Saturday. If there is an event (festival, etc.) on Saturday, it'll get pushed to Sunday. You can buy things as well as sell items.

---How the Bazaar works---
The mayor will take you to the bazaar the first time. You start out with three spaces to sell things on and after selecting which items you would like to sell (You can place stacks of items) you wait for potential customers to walk by. You can also ring your bell with the B button to attract people to your stall. Once you've got a nibble, the person will tell you how many of a particular item they would like to buy. You then press A a certain number of times coinciding to the amount of objects they want to buy, and you've made your sale! After all three items have sold, you can put more up.

Friends and other characters may walk by and ask to buy something... a little text menu will come up with choices of how much to sell the item at. I'm pretty sure if you give them a discount, their FP will go up. Consequently, over-charging or even maybe giving at a normal price may also cause them to get angry!

You can also walk about and purchase things from other stalls. At the end of the day the mayor will tally up the total number of sales and money spent. You might win a prize for being the one who sells the most items :D


Farming –
•One bag = one seed.
•It appears the crop system is similar to that of IoH (more info coming soon)
•Crops MUST be watered at least once every day or they will die. Crops will go dry after 10 hours (similar to in AWL) and you can water them twice. The more you water the crops, the better their quality will be.
•Fertilizer can be used to raise the quality of the crop. It is highly recommended that you use it. The fertilizer sold at Mucho’s shop will raise the quality of the crop, but the fertilizer you make in your own windmill works much better.
•Stepping on your crops will decrease their quality, so be careful!

- There is a pasture for you animals
- All livestock is purchased from the bazaar

• Cows:
- Cows come with either black or brown spots
- You can milk them and they are herded by the dogs

• Sheep:
- Sheep come in white or black
- You can sheer them and they are also herded by the dogs

• Chickens:
- Chickens come in white
- You can collect eggs from them and they are also herded by the cats

Pets -

-Pets can be purchased from Lucho in the bazaar. The conditions for him to start selling them are:
-You need four or more chickens to unlock cats
-You need four or more cows/sheep to unlock dogs
-You can toss play items for the dogs and cats to play with
-It appears that you can have a large number of cats and dogs
-Cats come in black and white
-There are two different styles of dogs. The pointy eared kind (they come in black or brown), and the round eared 'classic' kind. I'm not sure whether there's color differences for the round eared ones.
-Lucho will bring you a horse in summer of year 2
-You can select your horse in red, black, brown or white
-Owning a horse opens up area 3 on the map
-Looks like the kitties sleep on top of your barn during the day. D'awww...

-No one has been able to unlock any sort of mine yet.... is there one?


Windmills –

-The first Windmill is unlocked on spring 23rd. It is on your farm.
-To use the windmill, select a recipe from the list and it will use up the ‘ingredients’ you have in your rucksack.
-The ‘recipes’ take in-game time to be completed. The faster the wind is blowing, the less time it takes to be done.
-It appears that the first windmill on you farm is for dairy products, and the second is for upgrading tools
-You can blow into the microphone when you are by the windmills to make the wind blow faster
-There seems to be a way to upgrade the windmills using 6 wonderful stones. (More info coming soon)

Example: Getting a new size record on a fish (same species) will earn you back some guts.

There's no Harvest Goddess... but a girl named Kagetsu lives in the cave behind the waterfall... she's presumably marriageable... but no one has discovered heart events or anything of the sort yet. She's a bit like Keira, except she speaks with a rough tongue.

The unlock conditions for the cave are unknown :<

Wow! Okay I just got the game yesterday and I played it for a while. I'm on spring 25th... I've been going pretty slow to look at things as thoroughly as possible. I've also got a LOT of new info I'm writing down in my little notebook, so I'll be updating when I get some spare time... I really want to play more now though :>

I'll just write a bit about my play time experience--

Things I like:

-Graphics -- Oh mah gawd this game is REALLY pretty. When I first walked around I was transfixed by the area I was in. The whole map is really, really picturesque and the town is super cute. I think this might replace Sugar valley as my fav harvest moon town :> The characters sprites look really good too and the portraits are very adorable

-New Gameplay -- The Bazaar is REALLY fun. I really look forward to it every week. The controls work really smoothly with the game and jumping around like a maniac is tons of fun (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) The bug catching system is so addictive and cool... unfortunately I haven't got my fishing rod yet, so I can't tell anything about fishing... but I can't wait for that... I like the way you can just pick up and toss the chicken around too hehe it's fun.

-Characters - I thought I would be really bored by the characters, but I'm actually really starting to like a few. Anemone is SO gently caressING CUTE OMG It was really hard to pick to be a boy or girl.... I really wanted to marry Anemone... but the guy's voice is complete barf. But luckily I found that Royd is also a very interesting character. Though I DO wish there were more lines in the game, I think these characters have infinitely more personality than the cardboard cut-outs in IoH

-Cooking is cool and they FINALLY added a counter to let you choose how many of something you want to make

-The windmill system is neat... but so far I'm only able to make fertilizer because I can't find a lot of the ingredients on the list. I'm really glad they just give you most of the recipes to star off with.

There's a lot more stuff, I'm probably just not remembering it right now :9




Things I don't like:

- MUSIC -- Welp.... The music in this game is really not the great. The theme song is literally "I Saw Three Ships" (yes, the christmas song...) and most of the music is just plain copied or remixed from IoH. That is a HUGE disappointed. I haven't heard of the the season themes besides spring, but I sure hope they're amazing... because reusing music is pretty bad... Especially music from the game in the series which had... like.. the worst music? I don't know...

- Voice acting -- This is not to say I think all the voice acting in the game is bad, but certain characters voice's are very annoying... like Mucho and Felix. I like Royd's voice, but something about the "HHHHMPH" he gives you all the time sounds like he's got a hacking cough. Also the main character boy's voice is the only reason I didn't play as him. And then there's AGI.... I was actually interested in marrying Agi at first.... and the I heard his voice. He sounds like a GIRL. Like a complete and utter GIRL. I expected him to have a mid-ranged, relaxed male tone. But he little sounds like a woman. He immediately sank to the bottom of the list. Oh well, at least Dirka has company now in the "No way I'm marrying you" zone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)


-I want a way to upgrade my rucksack... really bad.... :<

-Where are all the ingredient type items? Like oil and curry powder... Also the cafe should sell more than two items a day :(

-The days run a little too long for my taste. I like the 'ten-minute' counter system better.

-The way day goes to night.... there's barely any sunset! It just like suddenly turns into night in matter of minutes. They could have made that smoother...







Overall this game is really fun. I'm enjoying it a lot so far... I'd say it's the best in the line of handhelds of Harvest Moon... I;ve never played SSAF, but if it's anything like IOH, I'd say this game blows them completely out of the water. This game is what IoH should of been, I'd say... I think the fresh new style and the interesting gameplay will strike the player's well. If anyone has got any questions, I'll be happy to answer them for you!

Once Chen opens up shop at the bazaar (you have to sell within or above the desired range for more shops to open, in the beginning it's 10,000-15,000G), he'll start selling things like oil, rice, and curry powder.

I noticed that cooked items and gemstones rake in the most G. Once you get the fishing rod, fish in front of the cafe. Almost everything caught there can be made into one-ingredient dishes, some of which sell for 400-500G+ each~ Easy way to make some money.
