Um, well, I feel kind of like an idiot posting about this for you guys but, anyways..
Two nights ago... {Thursday night... I think?}, I had a seizure at work, which I've never had before, and to anyone who has ever had a seizure before will know it's extremely f*cking scary experience. Anyways, thank god my manager was with me and I was about to serve a customer when it happened, but my manager phoned my mom first to ask her what to do.... Like, who wouldn't phone 911 first...? Luckily there were doctors staying there, but it's not like they did much besides having me choke on water when I was numb. But atleast I had two extremely good looking paramedics who one actually knew my brother... Weird... And then at the hospital they just did bloodwork while I sta around listening to all the drunks in there..., and they were ready to give me ablood transfusion while I was there because my iron was so extremely low in my blood which affects your sleep and makes you feel tired all of the time {but I've had that for so long that I never noticed} and supposedly will also make you pale, bt again, I've always been pale that I wouldn't have known a difference. But I'm really just making this post so you guys know, because I still don't feel completely right and I did hit my head which the doctors didn't realize and which I only noticed when I got home and went to brush my hair. And I actually feel worse today, two days later, than I did yesterday. So, I see my doctor on Monday so hopefully she'll be able to shed some more light on why this even happened. Bleh. |

That's awful, love. D:
I'm sure everything is going to be okay. Let us know what your doctor has to say. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasad.gif) |

Hmm, when do you think you hit your head?
Yeah, but that does sound like a scary experience. I'm sure the doctor will give you more details and who knows, this might solve some problems! |

All I can remember was that about an hour before it happened I was shaking more than I ever have before, and sometimes I will shake every once in awhile but never this bad {and it was before supposedly a slight side affect from a medication I take, which is, ironically, an anti-seizure medication used for other things}, but that night was really bad and now I remember I'd shake bad and forget what I even did, like scoop ice cream, shake and not even realize I'd drop the scoop.
But, what was happening was I was writing down an order and all of a sudden my left arm started shaking uncontrollably and started going up in the air and I turned a bit and called out to my manager and then from there everything went black. Supposedly from the guy that I was serving what happened was my left arm started shaking like I remember but then supposedly my right arm did very badly aswell, and then my left arm shot up straight up in the air then I fell to the ground, and I'm actually lucky I didn't hit my head on our huge metal table we have it there... But I guess I must've hit my head when I hit the ground, and for some reason they didn't feel the huge a*s bump on my head, and I only had a headache. They called it a generalized seizure, which, I'm guessing just means a normal seizure.. No idea.. But when I came to everything was blurry and they kept calling my name and I was saying the words in my head but they wouldn't come out of my mouth, which feels like I was watching a frigging episode of House or something. But finally when I could talk it was all mumbled, which was so horrible and scarry, I thought I was just having a really bad dream. Then I just realized I couldn't move anything, not even my eyes. That's really all, then when they were taking me out every single freaking kid and person and summer staff were there watching, which was even more embarassing and horrible for them to see me like that, bawling and babbling... Uggh. Anyways, sorry, I'm going on and on lol. |

That sounds super scary, not being able to know or control what you do. I hope I never experience anything like that, but then again, I also hope that I never have to go into a hospital for anything more than childbirth or visitations. Medical shows make me fear hospitals.

It's true, Rebecca, it's something you NEVER think will ever happen to you and when it does it's sooo scary. I hope no one here ever has to experience it if they haven't yet, and especially when they're not sure why it happened is even scarrier really, I wish I knew because now I'm afraid of everything.

Oh no. :\
Idlers, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. It must've been really frightening. Don't feel embarrassed about it, though! I'm sure people that witnessed it would be really sympathetic. You had no control over what happened and I'm sure they understand. I really hope you feel better, Idlers! Keep us updated! |

Thankyou, Cocoa, that's very sweet of you. I know I shoudln't be embarssed but it's so hard not to be... If I end up going back to work I know people will be looking at me differently. They're very nice people there, especially the summer staff {who stay there all summer overnight}, and I remember when I finally came to one of the lifeguards who actually had just broken his arm was trying to help me, I guess, atleast that's who I thought it was.
And btw, thanks to everyone who's posted, now I must go have a nap. xp |

Wow, that sounds terrible. I wish you the best with your doctor. It's good to see you're already comfortable to be able to post such serious things on here. We are like a big family. Please keep us notified with what's up. I feel concerned now. Best of luck with everything.

That is horrible. My friend had a seizure while hanging out at my house (that was terrible). It must have been really awful for you. I'm sure it must be hard to find out why someone randomly has a seizure. I just hope they find out what caused it, and that it won't be a serious problem. Have a nice nap by the way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasmile.gif) .

In middle school, a girl had a seizure one day during lunch. It was scary just to be a witness to it; so I imagine it was quite terrifying. I do hope everything turns out okay, and that the answer to why you had one isn't too bad. You probably plan on telling your doctor, but don't forget to tell her about hitting your head. Just to be sure that didn't do any damage (though I think you'd start to notice by then). You'll probably start to feel better soon. Whenever you're sore or sick or something, it's usually the second day after where you feel the worst. At least that's what always happens with me, and my mom says the same thing. I hope you feel better soon!!

I'm so sorry to hear that, ID. I know what it's like to have to go through a scary experience (not a seizure, but bleeding to death isn't that wonderful either) when you're just minding your own business...
I hope everything goes okay on Monday and this never happens again and I do pray for your well-being with this. :/ |

This is probably too late, but I strongly suggest you talk to a nurse before going to sleep, just in case you have a concussion. That is if the paramedics didn't already tell you.
I hope you feel better soon, and this turns out to be just a bad reaction to your medication. |

I can only imagine what it was like for the people that witnessed it... I know I'd be flipping out.
Zen, I am still very, very tired no matter how much sleep I'm getting and I still have a bad headache, and yeah, I'll be sure to tell my doctor... It's still a goosebump and it's still painful and red so I definitely won't forget lol, can't even lay down on that side of my head... I'm so surprised they never noticed it. Guitar Smasher, yeah, when I went to the emergency room they checked everything and I didn't have a concussion. They also did a bunch of bloodwork and stuff and they wouldn't have let me leave if I wasn't okay. But thanks for tell me that, because sometimes they'll forget that kind of thing. Chicken, what happened to you? That sounds scary... I still feel very crappy, but I just hope my doctor has some answers for me tomorrow... And hopefully I won't have to go back to work, because I really don't feel up for returning on TUESDAY! My boss supposedly was kind of pissed that I wasn't going to be back for four days... And my head boss still hasn't even phoned me, yet I've had my dad's bosses phone me... Weird. :S Anyways, thank you guys for posting... I'm just very lucky that nothing worse happened - I could've broken a bone or something more serious, I'm surprised I didn't hurt myself more. |

I was playing outside and I was attacked by a large dog who tore my leg apart. D: Not fun.
Anyway, :/ Did they give you ANY clue as to what happened? It seems so "random", for lack of a better word. |

Sorry for taking so long to reply, I haven't had much time online in the past few days.
I saw my family doctor on Monday and supposedly it could also be something that mimics a seizure but isn't... But it's doubtful. They're still not sure why this happened, and I've been completely honest with them, but it still points towards the fact that my iron {hemoglobin.. Okay, I realize it's spelt wrong but it has something to do with red blood cells ect...} was soo low and it takes three months for them to even notice a tiny difference. Also, since my iron was so low, that means there's less oxygen in my blood so with the huge lack of sleep I was having and standing on my feet and working hard for 8 hours in a row sometimes your body gets to the point where it's like, "STOP!", and that's what happened we're guessing. So with not enough oxygen getting to my brain ect your body just needs to do something to let you know there's something wrong. So it looks like it's going to take awhile before I actually find out what's wrong, once we get the results from the CAT scan {which was actually very easy and was kind of cool to get the "radioactive" stuff injected in since it gives you this weird hot flash}, which will show blood vessels in my head ect... I go for the brain wave scan {EEG} in October which will possibly show if there is anything to do with my brain that may have caused it, which I'm hoping there isn't, but it's now becoming a possibility. My doctor just advised me to take it easy {which has been impossible since I guess my brother doesn't seem to care anymore after a day} since there's a possibility that I may faint or have another seizure. So I told my manager that I wasn't going to return for the last two weeks since I work with hot grease ect, and it's just not safe since I'm mostly by myself and who knows if it happens again and it may take two hours for someone to even realize something was wrong. Which is fine by me, and I'm sure they'll be able to get by without me for two weeks. My head boss then told me if I ever want any job over there in the future I'm more than welcomed, although I don't think I will since it's now some place I don't really want to go to anymore. Sorry for such a long post.. Blaaah. |

My mom had low iron, too. She never had a seizure (thank God). But, you spelled it right. Her hemoglobin was low, and it was classified in the anemia category.
That sounds awful, ID. What makes you such an insomniac, anyhow? My mother's problem has always been worry. And she doesn't work, but she did "manly" jobs around the house...which didn't help... Please take it easy. Don't be suprised if they don't take you to the onocology/hematology lab and give you IV bags full of iron. Don't let the oncology alarm, though. It's completely blood (not cancer) related. It seemed to help my mom a lot. It took several visits, but she's pretty healthy now. |
