I'm guessing she's 18-20, considering she got angry when Sheila tried to shoo her out of the bar, saying she was too young to be in there. In Japan the legal (and traditional) age where you are recognized as an adult is 20.

Oh, and on another side note, fishing doesn't make time pass by. When you cast your rod, time freezes, and once you pull it back, only 10 minute passes instantly. So let's say you cast your rod and you catch nothing, so it would seem like maybe an hour in game passed. When you reel in your line, only 10 minutes pass. Same with if you caught a fish right when you casted.

Give him food for 3 days (mushrooms work), and he'll fix the mine cart.

For rucksack upgrades, you need to have activated the event between Selaf and Yuba, and have taken on her request. If I recall correctly the first thing she asks for is some wool and 10 green herbs. If you do that, then she'll upgrade your rucksack so it can hold more items. I think her next request is for perfect wool, honey, and 5 stamina drinks. Once you complete that, your rucksack will be able to hold 30 items.

And on another note, using your tools waste no time now. Just now, I was chopping down a tree and spamming my axe. By the way, it takes like 20 swings to down a tree, and maybe 10 down break the trunk. That's about 1/4-1/3 of my stamina bar with 2 power berries. Anyways, so I'm swinging away, and the time doesn't move. Just an FYI.
