It's not the costumes that I look at. I look at the basic person cosplaying. Females should never cosplay as males (except Pikmin), and males should absolutely never cosplay as females. Most of the time it is the hair that is the utterly crappy part of the costume.

Suddenly, with that information, I have to ask... What gender do you think would be best for Bridget?

Briget shouldn't be cosplayed at all. No character should be cosplayed at all. Except Link.

Considering the build of most males in video games/anime/manga, I have to disagree with you on your view of crossplay. I have yet to see a man that's built like the bishonen that are so commonly seen. And on your remarks of hair, I have to inform you that cosplay is not the best industry, and as such, we usually make no money from it (in fact, most of us end up in debt). That being, we can't always afford to have our hair styled/dyed the proper way or buy $100 high-quality wigs. And, as you may have noticed, hair styles are not always physically possible. Therefore, many of us decide to go with a more natural alternative, or simply do our best. Other 'Good' Cosplayers: Adella Limebarb Cosplay Dia and (my personal favorite) Stripper Vash Oh, and did I mention those guys up at Hatoleon Cosplay? Lemme find that link.... |

Ya see though, there's this tiny little thing where they can't exactly change their gender or skintone very easily. That right there is actually not a half bad costume, with the only major problems being the majorly obvious fact that it's an asian chick. The only kind of cosplayer I don't like are the obese guys who dress as teenage girls in skimpy outfits. I bet they really love the fact they can disgust people too, but it's all in good fun so I suppose it's not so bad. |

Oh, look, a chick cosplay Riku and doing a bang up job of it. The Demyx, Marluxia, and Roxas are the only ones really worth mentioning.. maybe Saix and Xemnas. and I loled at your comment about Bridget Cosplay... So I decided to do a quick search. <3 Dude as Bridget Chick as Bridget |

Ya know, I'm sorry to say this since you get lumped into it too Kail, but those Organization XII cosplays always throw me off to how good they are because it wasn't too long after the release of KH2 that being able to purchase exact replicas of the coats became available. You just can't really know who actually tried to make the stuff and who just plain bought a hundred dollar getup and some hair gel.
That quick comment aside, I really wish I could post the Typing of the Dead cosplays right now. Those were awesome. |

I made mine from scratch and I have the pinpricks/remnants of vinyl to prove it. <3 But yeah, there are certainly a lot out there that do buy theirs from like.. freakin' Hong Kong. (I've seen them. They aren't exact at all and cost twice the amount it cost me to make mine). Wusses. |

Well, it's good to know that you actually tried to make your costume. The ones I remember were pretty much exact replicas though, and I'm pretty sure didn't come from Hong Kong... Then again, they may have gotten discontinued and you can only get Hong Kong knock offs now or something. Iunno. It was a while ago and I'm not exactly a gigantic fan of KH.
For Animazement I basically just got a new shirt and called it a day. It being my first convention, I decided to not go overboard and kept it simple enough. |

Did. >DDD I started conventioning when I was 10. Almost seven years later.. I've become a fanatic. I basically plan my whole year around which conventions are coming up. /: I would tell you to escape while you still can, but it wouldn't be an escape so much as you missing out on something amazing~ Conventions build communities~~ |

I wish I could go and cosplay, but one I don't have the money, two no one to go with, three I would feel awkward there alone, four I don't know when they are, and five I would probably look horrible...

Well, I intend to go again anyway. Cosplaying or not, they have an awesome Dealer's Room and game room. I had no idea I was actually GOOD at Soul Calibur III 'till I went there, and I love my Master Sword now hanging on the wall.
I say "Cosplaying or not", but I intend to either A: Go nuts and make a Pigmask costume from Mother 3, or B: Make an outfit out of clothes I can actually use every day, rather than just once, and make sure to get a nice hat. I'm leaning towards Jigen (Lupin III). |

Kozunai - Most conventions have websites, so you could probably find one in your area.. Also, they tend to have forums, where you can meet people. The key to cosplay is to be someone from something you enjoy~ If I'm cosplaying someone from a series that no one I know is, I usually post like "Any _______ Cosplayers?" You can build friendships that way, and that way you won't have to worry about being alone.
In regards to money, welcome to the club. >DDD DPB - It's usually best to start off with something simple that you like for a first cosplay, so you're on the right track~! In any case, I doubt that Dusk could do any better than the cosplayers that were posted. Unless they're secretly some sewing/prop-making genious. But whatever. Edit: Blaaaaaaaah~~ I should probably go create a cosplay topic. We're totally getting off subject. Would it go under "Any Colour You Like"? |
