I think the ice cream guy has a cheap design. Don't be mad about Yorterri, it's final evo is just a big puffball anyway. Actually, there are lots of puffballs in this generation.
Loved the polar bear, though. ;D Stats aren't important for me because I don't do competitive battling, and if I did, I'd just use my favorites anyway. But like I said, I'm withholding judgement on most until I see Mr. Sugimori's official artwork. |

Crystal I envy you. Back in the day I used to just pick whoever I liked without regard for how strong they were but I've been spoiled by competitive battling, I've stopped now but every time I try to get back into that "just use it if you like it" mentality there's a force that's always saying "Stop using it. It sucks. This one's stronger". I'm weak, I need help and hopefully this gen I can break the habit.
My first impressions of the new Pokemon aren't too great. My friend does fake Pokemon sprites and monster sprites for indie games and a lot of them seem to be in the exact style, not saying it's bad just not what I was expecting. I'll reserve my judgment on this gen until I actually play through the main game though |

For clarification, this gen has 3 trios. The roaming trio (the three fighting), the raijin trio (the three clouds), and the dragon trio (Version Mascots and Ice/Dragon). The three at the end of the pokedex are Event Pokemon only!

If there's a version mascot trio we can safely assume that there'll be a third game soon after. I might as well wait.

I've always believed you can win with a seemingly weak pokemon if you make the most of it's move options and held items/abilities. There's a lot of psychology in there too, cuz I sometimes have to think whether or not someone is going to switch, or if they think I think they're going to switch so they don't switch, etc. I notice people don't really care for grass types so much though both my brother and I have used our grass guys to take out half/full teams by themselves. |

The ice dragon is part of the trio? Nuts! He's hard to get then.
But I like that there's three trios. And I actually don't really battle competitively, but I still like my Pokemon to be pretty strong. Plus, there are parts in the main game where you need a strong team. And I also pick based on who I like. Like if I absolutely hate a Pokemon, but it's stats are amazing I still won't even use it. So I look for favorites with decent stats. Also, after you beat the Elite Four you have to find the seven sages! :O (IMG:http://i532.photobucket.com/albums/ee328/Wulava/PokemonBW/BWBadges.png) The badges... |

Those are . . . pointy badges. 0_o
Puffy Pokemon and pointy badges. Interesting. Another interesting tidbit, the final gym leader is different depending on which version you're playing. |

Apparently pirates have run into their first obstacle: No experience points for their Pokemon ever.

Yeah, haha, they are pointy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Really? Which person is with which version? Iris is in Pokemon Black and Sagha is in Pokemon White. They are both Dragon type trainers. |

Yeah you can make up for weak pokemon by making the most out of what they have but then there's always that Pokemon that does the same thing but better. It's a shame really and I wish I could go back to not knowing about these things, ignorance was bliss.

You could try just IGNORING that. I always go with who I like. Which is why I'm probably not going to evolve my Wotter past stage 2 and I'm gonna have a totally type redundant sea turtle on my team.

That's what I'm going to try and do this generation but like I said in the other post there's always a doubt in the back of my mind which I never used to have.

Just remind yourself how AWESOME your guy is. I friggin' love Squiggles the Totodile, and he beat down Red's Snorlax. I love Lady Fluffington, the Mareep, and she took down Lugia enough in ONE hit to be caught in ONE pokeball. Sure, they'd be better if I evolved them but why bother when they're so COOL?

Haha I'll try. Though judging from most of the new designs it's going to be pretty tough, I hope they grow on me and I don't end up pulling the same thing I did back in D/P where I hated every Pokemon that came along in the main game so I never caught any and just went through the whole thing with my starter (Infernape) and a couple of HM slaves.

D/P did feel kinda weak. But there's enough guys this time that are just ridiculous that it's hard to not like them just for that alone. Like the Ice Cream Mon.

See? That's exactly what I think as well. In my Pearl version I use a Pachirisu as my electric type despite the fact that it's probably the weakest electric type pokemon in existence purely because I like it. As long as you've worked out the best move-set possible for it, EV trained it in a way that helps with SA and Defense, and given it items that help its stats, it can become just as much of a powerhouse as other electric types. Also, way back in the day I used to be so attached to the original forms of the starters that I'd never evolve them. Seriously. In Blue, I always ran around with my adorable Lv 100 Charmander and Squirtle, and in Silver my Chikorita and Totodile were ###### boss, pwning the ###### out of everything that moved. Really Suiko, whether a pokemon is "strong" is purely based on what you do with it. So what if others can do it better? What matters is that you like the pokemon and use it the way you want to use it. I know thinking competitively is a hard habit to break, but playing with pokemon you love for what they are rather than their stats is always more fun and fulfilling. |
