HMDS seems like it'd actually be a really good game if it wasn't so hard to play, and I might buy DS Cute for that. I just plain shouldn't have to make backup saves this often if I'm not playing the beta of Starfox 2.

I would NOT ever play HMDS again.
It took me all Summer to get married, and then my DS fell off the bunkbed and broke so I couldnt play it for another 2 months. D:< I'd play FoMT though. :D |

At the moment I'd say Harvest moon DS cos I've gotten really into it again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jack2_smile.gif) But I'm in summer at the moment and the music is well annoying (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasad.gif)
I like Friends of Mineral Town too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jack2_excited.gif) |

I have both, but being honest, It depends in what ways you look at it, in variety I'd choose HMDS, but in levels of traditionally and simplicity, I'd stick with FoMT, but to me, I probably wouldn't be able to choose in between both. :)

I would say FOMT because it takes FOREVER to get married in HMDS I mean I am giving Celia a gift every day and she is still at a black heart (BTW I am in winter year 1 almost year 2)

FOMT by a longshot. As I recall HM DS had horrible glitches and other issues (well some were beneficial) but the game did not seem polished off at all. FOMT was a lot more immersive imo.

Well, overall I'd definately say HMDS, because...
-More detailed characters -More characters, including 4 special bachelorettes that present a greater challenge -More challenging mines with new items inside -More choice to farm development -Better music & general atmosphere (although the Summer music sucks) -Sprite Station system better than using Television -Better Harvest Sprite system, sort of -GAMBLING -Some semblance of a plot & a main goal; I.e. rescuing the Harvest Goddess -Link feature with FoMT However, in HMDS there are hundreds of glitches, and some things are massively difficult and take so many years to accomplish so that nobody but one or two crazy Japanese pro gamers will ever do them. |

Exactly. I mean who is going to go 100+ floors down a mine every day to marry a princess. I tried one time and forgot the gift. O_O You are right Hassy, I did enjoy the music and sprite station components, but that was about it.

FoMT was much better than this crappy excuse of a game called HMDS. I hate the darn thing. I shipped a cabbage, and it froze on me. I haven't found all the harvest sprites, so I can't marry (I've been dating everyone else in the meantime). The animals and their barns are retarded, and I really don't like it. Not sure why I keep playing it.

Read review.
I preferred HMDS cause it's my first HM game but opinions can be differente. Why don't you loan from a shop or a friend? If you're certain with your choice go buy it. You can also buy both of them, just not at the same time. It's your decision, so chose wisely~ -not much help- |

I've never actually played HMDS, though I wanted to. Now I'm hearing about all of the glitches, so I don't know if it's worth it.
My friend has FoMT, and MFoMT was my very fist HM game, so it's kinda special. I still take it out occasionally. I think that some of the older HMs are better than the newer ones, because the main point of the game is farming, and you usually have to work harder and waste less time than the new ones. I remember in MFoMT, I had a whole system set up, on how to water, collect wild food, and give gifts in the least amount of time. Those were the good old days.... |

I like them both a lot. I prefer the play-style those games had. Everything was much simpler but still fun. That type of farming was the best.
I haven't played HMDS. Only DSCute. But I have both versions of Mineral Town. |

FoMT! Much more interesting and HMDS was so crazy! Crazy in the sense that there was millions of glitches. I got instantly rich overnight by doing nothing. I have no idea what I did, but I then went to buy that island home immediately after finding out I was stinking rich!
Don't get me wrong, HMDS is cool and all (especially cuz of my Nami), but I had more fun with FoMT. I wish I could go back to when I was just a kid with a Gameboy playing FoMT... |

I'm a FoMT person. BTN was my first HM game, so it's natural that I'd prefer it. I also feel like the characters and events were less shallow. Recent games tend to have more cliche character types.

I have both games, but I have really only gotten really into HM DS. I had FoMT, but never really played it because I would get bored too quickly... :/

I love HMDS but now everytime I play it, its basically a gamble bc of the glitches. I just got the milk glitch but also the cooking festival glitch and maybe the fishing? glitch. >_< FoMT if you dont wanna risk it but for me I never really liked the game or enjoyed it as much as HMDS.

FoMT, though I preferred MFoMT. I only played HMDS for a little while. I still play Cute sometimes.
