A lot of the recent games have been more experimental than sequential.
XD Does that make sense?

I saw Tales of Symphonia and I felt the need to comment because I love that game :) Anyways...

Huh. I've never made the connection between ToS's story and ToT's story. Two trees, both dead...figures :/

Ideas get recycled a lot but as long as there's no copyright issues and the game is fun I don't mind. In high school we talked about this recycling idea. Taking an idea and building on it is a great expression of your own creativity. In fact (and I'm straying away from games here) but society is built on people taking the ideas of others and making them better, or at least working them into their own society. Harvest Moon took the tree idea probably to add little variety to the series. I mean... yeah the point of the games are to farm but adding a little background, like the recycled idea of a dying tree, won't hurt :3 And I'm biased but Tales took that idea and ran with it and made it exploded in a wondrous catastrophe of magnifien-- IsaidIwasbiased.

In the future I hope Harvest Moon continues to explore connective farming, and I mean on a global scale. I'd love to move into my friend's town and start my own ranch or sell my specialized - unique to me only - farm goods at a global...market??

I'm clearly ripping off some other game/concept.

The grandpa tale is like Mario again.
How many grandpas are going to have a grandson that lives in the city and always move into their farm once they die no matter what? But if Peach is never going to stop making cakes...

It really took me a while to learn that. There's never an original idea today.
