Tree of Tranquility has so many themes in it and is more than a game- it is a representation of Japanese farming. I will make a topic about that later; however, you are not just a farmer in this game, not just a rancher or forager either. You are destined with the fate of becoming a hero. Every decision you make will affect how fast and efficiently you can revive the trees. Not every decision I have made so far has been the best decision. I post here today to hear the trials you have gone through: your mining tales, fishing stories, how you got your ingredients, etc. This topic here is not about me- it is about you. This is your story! Please, do share with your fellow forum members how decision making is harder than just the press of a button.

I never get far into the game barely past the tutorial before I think I screwed up and need to restart. I have restarted the game five times and got absolutely nowhere.

I never get far into the game barely past the tutorial before I think I screwed up and need to restart. I have restarted the game five times and got absolutely nowhere. Try going into the game with a follow along attitude. Once you get your house you should go collect the very informative books out there and the tools of the trade. This part of my story may help you. It was a warm spring morning when Kadaro woke up and decided that it was time to visit the town, the morning sun peeking over the trees as he gazed out the window. In the corner of his new house there conveniently was a rucksack, however worn it looked. He hoisted the dilapidated old sack off the ground with his 'weak' arms and threw it over his shoulders. Ready to go and with a rucksack to use, he eagerly stepped outside with an attitude that would tell you "I can do this if I try!" A river was softly flowing from a nearby waterfall, it's waves ebbing against the stone bank. As soon as Kadaro stepped outside, wind began gently blowing the trees' emerald leaves and wrinkled brown branches as if it had been waiting just for him. Decidedly it was a good idea to say good morning to his former employer- Souffle Farm. Which is where the ever-beautiful Anissa works. When Kadaro first met her, time seemingly slowed to a halt as he was captivated by a face that seemed to sparkle and glow. She had gladly received the strawberry that he had mistakenly given her on his second task while working on the farm. Boy was Mrs. Souffle mad... When he got back she scolded and lectured him on the difference between family and neighbors. And Mr. Souffle was completely OUTRAGED by this. He must have called Kadaro a 'puny little weakling' 100 times over, forcing him to work in the field until dawn. "What a waste of good strawberries... Giving them to my daughter," Mr. Souffle grumbled while still steaming over that single mistake. "Now dear," Mrs. Souffle interjected, "You mustn't hold grudges against our farm hand! He is being received here as a guest!" "Exactly. Which is the reason why it IS such a big deal that he made a mistake." "Please, dear, you are upsetting our guest," she shifted her view to Kadaro, "Aren't you going to eat, hon? You have done nothing but sit there and stare at your food since you sat down for dinner." "I'm too... *gulp* Anxious to eat." "Huh," Anissa suddenly swallowed her food and spoke, "Anxious about what?" Kadaro was speechless- had she caught on? Uncontrollably, he began to blush. Until finally he mustered the courage for words. "I am scared by your husband, Mrs. Souffle," he cunningly came up with an excuse to fit the situation. "Wimp," Mr. Souffle muttered, unamused by the awkwardness in the situation. Suddenly Anissa started to blush also. "I think it is sort of cute that he has the courage to talk about his feelings," she gave her father her infamous corner-of-the-eye deathstare and continued on in a harsh tone, "Unlike someone here. I am done with dinner now. Kadaro you can eat dinner in my room if you like." Even though this was just two days ago, as he reminisced it seemed like it had been years. Finally, after recalling this event at the farm, he walked up to the path behind his house-- but a big root was blocking the path! Suddenly, as if on cue, Gill walked up as Kadaro stood in front of the mighty root. "Sort of exasperating, isn't it? my father and I have been trying to convince Dale into cutting it for the longest time. But this root extends from the Mother Tree, the sacred tree at the heart of the island, which has superstitious beliefs and half-truths about it. Dale is caught up in the past. The Mother Tree is dead and is withering away slowly but surely. It's for the good of the island anyhow! I am sure the Harvest Goddess will understand. If she doesn't... Well I mean look! The seas are at unrest, the rainbows have left us, and business and tourism are at their lowest ever. How could things possibly get any worse?" "Why did the tree die in the first place," Kadaro enthusiastically interrogated. "That is actually a matter of controversy. All I know is that when the rainbows faded the tree died." "If the rainbows came back, would the tree come back to life?" "I doubt it. The tree has been dead for years... Well, anyways, I am off to try convincing Dale into cutting it again." "Good luck! Do you think he will actually cut it this time?" "...I sure hope so." |

Having exchanged farewells, Gill jogged off into the morning sun to Dale's Carpentry. His panting and footsteps grew further and further away, until Kadaro knew he was gone. So now Kadaro set out for Souffle Farm. To the right of his newly finished house is the garden. Sadly it has been blocked by stones and littered with saplings and weeds. It had been a long time since Kadaro had jogged as fast as he did this day, and all along the way he could only think of Anissa. His heart pulsing just as quick as when he was with her that day, he took off down the dirt path over the grassy hill to Maple Lake District. The lake sparkled with a brilliance all its own. A dock was situated at the lake's bank, it having been torn up by wild animals though and the white paint faded it was more of an eyesore than it had been intended. Toby, the local nonchalant fisher, situates his humble abode just in front of the dock. Over the hill and ever-closer to the glowing sun is the church. Its beautiful stained glass and blue roof make it all the more fitting for the top of the hill. But its business has been slowed ever since people stopped getting married there; however, the reverend never fails to ring the bell every hour, on the hour- and he has done so ever since the Clock Tower in Waffle Town Square stopped working. Alongside the Mother Tree dying went the Clock Tower too. On the right of the entrance to Carmel River District from Maple Lake District is Jin's House. Jin is the doctor working at Meringue Clinic. His sharp glasses only add to his seemingly logical and cold personality. In traditional Japanese warrior style, he has his black hair tied back in a ponytail. Kadaro, being the observative person he is, took notice of all of the fine details. But as he made his way to the farm something caught his eye. A sign in front of a tree. The tree appeared to be ancient- definitely older than the other trees. Inscribed upon the sign was Ben's Tree. Kadaro couldn't help but wonder who Ben could be. He took careful notice of the small, blue Lapis Lazuli blooming in front of Ben's Tree. Is someone buried here? Suddenly he remembered the blue winged lady of his dreams. He had dreamt of her since he had set foot upon Waffle Island, and she stood there and said nothing at first. But the next time he dreamt of her she spoke very small fractured words to him. She was tall with beautiful blue hair and a blue halo surrounding her body. Her eyes were as deep a blue as sapphires, and her hair shimmered as she respirated. Her dress, like the most of her, was blue also. She would be normal if it weren't for her pointed ears and the wings set upon her back. He was mystified standing beneath this tree and a strange energy filled him. He was losing precious time to use! He jumped as the church bell struck 8 o' clock in the morning, and quickly raced off to the farm in haste. Each pounding footstep sent an energizing shock through him. And now, with adrenaline rushing through him, he was more ready than ever to greet Anissa.
