There are two purposes for this forum:

1.) Post original content to be added to the website.
2.) Post factual content you believe are FACTS so that it can be transformed into content.

------------------------

Original Content:
This is the harder method of obtaining information, but it is probably the most morale way to do things. It involves playing the game and finding stuff out on your own and writing based upon your discoveries. In most cases for new games, you are the only means of making content.

Factual Content:
Some may confuse this with "stealing content"... but if the information is absolute, then it can't be avoided that if we were to develop original content, it would be identical to the other stuff out there. Factual content comes from a source in which we can trust to be true. Factual comes in the form of prices, items, equipment, statistics, etc.

Note: Stealing content that was written by an author such as walkthroughs, story-type, or hand written material is stealing content, and won't be accepted.

In factual content, we post any and all content we find so that one of the staff or volunteers who can see this forum can build upon and improve it and repost it here in their own words.

If you have any questions about this, please let me know over PM.

------------------------

This system is in place so that it makes it much easier for us to get content on the website, so the burden isn't just on one person to do everything. It's completely voluntary, you do what you want.

In most cases this is how it goes..

Original Content:

STEP 1:) Person #1 writes original content on a game, creates a topic it here.
STEP 2:) Person #2 and #3 look over and check/validate the information with their own understanding of the game and replies with input.
STEP 3:) Person #1 reviews the input and makes any changes. After changes (or no changes) take place, you can request that it's complete.
STEP 4:) Admin adds it to the site and gives credit to author.

Factual Content:
STEP 1:) Person #1 finds factual content on a game, creates a topic it here.
STEP 2:) Person #2 and/or #3 reviews and converts it into their own words and replies in the same topic.
STEP 3:) Person #1 or #2 requests that it be added and that all the content is valid.
STEP 4:) Admin adds it to the site and gives credit to authors.

If you see a topic that has no replies or hasn't been paraphrased, go ahead and volunteer if you want and work on it, it's all up for grabs.

Again about plagiarism: The important thing for factual content is that we don't steal this kind of information (as explained above what's acceptable). It took the original author a lot of time to write out, so it would make them angry to see their own wording on other websites.

Thanks!

Here's the HTML cheat sheet/code snippits for designing your content on the website:

http://wwww.ranchstory.co.uk/site_cheatsheet.html

I didn't add BBCODE for adding images or hyperlinking pictures/text, you should know how to do that by now.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) D I should note that you can't include quotes in your url bbcode. Ie. this won't work on the site:

CODE
[url="http://place"]No good =([/url]

Because we now have so many users with the capabilities of editing the content of the website directly, before submitting/overwriting any content on the website, please save a copy in a notepad file on your hard drive. If more than one user is editing the same page, things could get messy and someone could overwrite the changes you just made with the older version they were currently working with. And after submitting your content, double check that the content you submitted is actually posted.

If needed, you can coordinate when you are working on the site so that others know to not edit when you are...here in this forum is fine. Chat as well is probably better. If you notice anything fishy with the content like your changes are disappearing, please post a topic in here or send the members -- you suspect who are working in that same section -- a PM.
