Here's the trailer for the new game. Apparently the release date will be February 27th of 2014.

Looks like a lot of the game is based off of ANB, and includes the ability to change clothes like before.

New features the trailer discusses:
Angora rabbits as livestock. New chicken and cow types as well.

    Accessories in dress-up

    Town customization will return

The ability to care for animals in the safari as well as on the farm

Farming has been streamlined. Quicker forms of tilling land, harvesting, and watering

    Swimming!

Multiplayer options: friends can come and farm, and you can give presents to friends

The ability to farm Super Mario bros. items like growth mushrooms or fireflowers

--Storyline--
(Translated by Marie)

One winter day...
The protagonist, whose life has been the same day after day,
finds an advertisement in the mailbox.

"We're currently recruiting a new ranch owner!
Wouldn't you like to work with us?"

One week later...
The message saying the protagonist passed the ranch exam arrived.

The protagonist quickly packed their things, and
headed off to “Oak Tree Town,” thrilled about the excitement-filled
ranch life!

New Harvest Moon: Connect to The New Land Announced For Nintendo 3DS

QUOTE
While Harvest Moon: A New Beginning came out last year in Japan and North America (with a more recent release in Europe,) Marvelous AQL are already working on the next title, called Harvest Moon: Connect to the New Land for Nintendo 3DS.

This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine shares the latest details. Similar to Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, you’ll have the option to pick between a male or female protagonist in Harvest Moon: Connect to the New Land. The farming will also be made to be a little more simple in the upcoming installment; however, the overall flow of the game will be similar to previous Harvest Moon titles.

As you progress through the story, you’ll be able to visit a safari, where you’ll get to encounter and take care of wild animals. In addition to having an increase of wild animals over time, the magazine reports that there will be about twice the variety of animals compared to past titles.

There will also be a new “Trade Station” feature, where crops and dairy products can be traded to other countries. Over time, the amount of countries which you’ll be trading items with will increase, and you’ll also get to visit them on vacations or to deliver items they might need.

Additionally, this time, there will be other ranchers who’ll serve as tutorial purpose characters, each with their own personalities to guide you through different aspects of the game. Harvest Moon: Connect to the New Land will also bring back fishing, and there will also be other features that involve playing in rivers.

Something interesting to note is that, the meaning of “Connect” in the title implies communication features, but it shares another meaning of “connecting to the game’s world”. A Streetpass feature will also be available for you to share personal data with other players.

Harvest Moon: Connect to the New Land is slated for release on February 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.

I wonder if they'll keep the ability to make how your character looks and move things around the town....

But if that guy's who you play as, it's nice to have a blonde guy.

That's one pink frilly girl.

The safari animals look a bit weird, but cute.
I was tired so I didn't really read through the trading with countries properly, but it seemed interesting from what I....remember.
It disappoints me that I'm not feeling muh excitement. I guess I haven't gotten any of the newer Harvest Moon games though and I try to avoid any hype, but, anyway. Maybe I'm just tired.

That is not a picture of an owl.
And.... reindeer?

The look of the characters is.... interesting? The clothes look.... I don't know. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/emot-kraken.gif)

I'm not sure of what they mean by trading with countries. Trading in real life with other players? Or are they going to give the town an actual location?

I'm not all that excited either; I'm not really sure of what to think of the game so far.

There are blue penguins? Neat. Bring back fishing? I thought all games had a fishing activity.

Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land is slated for release in February 2014 on the Nintendo 3DS, and Marvelous AQL have shared a batch of screenshots for the game, giving one a glimpse at the ranch and a couple of the game’s characters.

It looks like Marvelous are giving Connect to a New Land a more interesting look than their previous Harvest Moon title, A New Beginning. Not only do the character portraits look more stylish, the visuals for the ranch look much more detailed, too.

You can read about some of the new features in Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land in our previous report on the game. It will cost 5,040 yen when released.

Maaaaan. I'm hanging for them to release the site so I can try and translate it. I know it's still a lot more advanced than what my level is, but I still wanna try. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
Information's likely to hit before I get to it though anyway.

I don't know how I feel about this, honestly. I loved Welcome to the Wind Bazaar and Twin Villages, but I absolutely detested A New Beginning. The only good thing to come out of that was the ability to customize my farmer and my village.

I think... I'll wait for more information before I really make any judgements. I don't want to end up with another game like ANB. >.>;;

I'm sad that I feel kind of indifferent to the announcement of this. I hope they don't keep in tedious things like having to wait to progress further into the game. I'm not really sure what this decreasing feeling of value stems from. I think I just want a new Harvest Moon game based on the basics - I really enjoy the older games in the series. This safari sound too gimicky, and the animals are weird-looking. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
Regardless, it's too early to judge. Have to wait and see. Highest hopes. :)

EDIT: Seems like customisation in A New Beginning was great though, but I'm not too concerned about whether it makes an appearance or not. The better if it does though, I suppose.

The funny thing is, I wouldn't have classified the customization in ANB as great when I played it. It wasn't until I played Animal Crossing, where the customization was absolute shit, that I realized just how good the customization in ANB was in comparison.

I would like to see that return, but honestly, if it's just not feasible, I won't be too upset. I'll just have to let my guy be a guy and woo the girls. I've done it a million times. No big deal. What worries me is that line where he says that they're making farming simpler. It's already ridiculously simple. Why does it need to be simpler? I'm hoping that he just means that they're taking out the freshness scale or something like that, rather than actually watering down the farming aspect. I'd like to play Harvest Moon, not Wild Animal Menagerie: The Game.

A new hero main character for friendship love heart marriage me.

QUOTE
Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land will have more connectivity features with your friends and also neighboring countries in the game, along with twice the variety of animals from the past series. Today, Marvelous AQL introduced us to the protagonists and two potential life-partners in the upcoming farm simulation title. http://www.siliconera.com/2013/10/28/meet-...age-candidates/

Protagonist (Male)

(IMG:http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/00212.jpg)

The male protagonist loves being outdoors, and grew up playing by the beaches and mountains. After showing an interest in doing work as a rancher, he followed his desire to do just that by moving into Oak Town.

This will be his first time taking care of crops and handling animals, so he’ll have a lot of challenges awaiting him in his new life. He’s a curious young man who’s always eager to learn more.

Protagonist (Female)
(IMG:http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/00314.jpg)

Similar to her male counterpart, the female protagonist will be new to Oak Town, as she also has shown interest in doing work as a rancher. She’s a kind-hearted young lady who loves taking care of animals and raising crops.

No matter how difficult a task, the pure-hearted young girl will always do her best with the brightest of smiles.

Similar to past titles of the Harvest Moon series, you’ll get to date and eventually fall in love and marry a suitable partner. Here’s a look at two potential partner candidates, living in Oak Town.

Lily

(IMG:http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/00417.jpg) (IMG:http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/00616.jpg)

Lily is a weather forecaster with an energetic personality and loves children. When she’s not reporting on the latest weather, she also works as a sing-along lady for a children’s program.

On her days off, she takes care of her younger sister, and spends time with the elderly. She’s quite the popular young lady of Oak Town, as she brings smiles wherever she goes.

Raegar

(IMG:http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/00517.jpg)
(IMG:http://storage.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/00717.jpg)

Raegar is a young man who works as a chef at the restaurant. He’s a busybody who acts upon his impulses, and has confidence in his excellent culinary skills.

Thanks to his dashing good looks and easy-going personality, he is often surrounded by other ladies. For this reason, he may come off as one who likes to fool around, but he’s actually quite the serious person, deep down.

Let's see... Lilie/Lily (I can't quite tell if that's a normal E or small E...) says, "Because this is a wonderful village, I would be happy if lots of people came to understand what makes it special." (She literally says 'its merits', but... that just sounds kinda wooden to me.)

And Raegar... I can read exactly what he says, but I keep rolling it around in my head trying to word it in English that doesn't sound completely ridiculous and its not working. (It might be due to the hour.) But anyway, he welcomes you to the restaurant and gives you this bright statement about how eating their food will fill you up.

The kanji in Lilie's is 'suteki' 'machi' and 'yosa'. The kanji is Raegar's is 'ryouri' and 'tabete'.

Oh, and I just looked up and realized that Veronica and Elize have text boxes too, but I don't feel like reading them.
