I can't decide if it's the occasional dimly-lit floor with all the cracks appearing everywhere, just the cracks IN GENERAL appearing all the time, the lack of space to move around comfortably (without a crack appearing), or how a lot of floors start out with the farmer not even visible. Or how the mole doesn't really give out anything special, to my knowledge.
Having said that, I do enjoy the fact that you know what you're gonna get when you refine the ore and wonderfuls. I guess stacking was removed due to the sparkles, and not wanting it to be TOO easy to rake in the cash. But for the most part, mining sucks and can screw off. |

I love replaying Back to Nature and doing all that simple mining. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
I spend ages in there. |

I have some tips!!! These tips will make it easier on your stamina, not to mention resolve some of your aforementioned problems.
*Make sure you have at least one slot dedicated to stamina regeneration. I usually just pick up the pale-brown mushrooms on the ground. *Don't walk around with your hammer when you aren't breaking through stones. I've noticed that for whatever reason this decreases the rate at which cracks in the ground appear. *When you are in doubt of where the stairs leading down are, remember this: the staircase will 99.9% of the time be hiding under a rock that has no rocks right next to it. It usually is the head of an exclamation point type pattern. (!) * If you are just going to ship everything, wait until you get past floor level 15, then smash only the white gemstones. Only pick up the gemstones that sparkle. *If you know you are close to fainting and you are in the dark (without stamina-replenishing items), put your hammer away and walk around slowly, making sure to look ahead before you step. Eventually you will find the staircase leading down. But if you don't, start looking for cracks in the ground ON PURPOSE! You may get lucky and fall to the floor with the many pale-brown mushrooms. *When you find a mole the frequency of which item he drops upon being pounded is usually like this: Bodyjizer=17% Stay-awake= 34% Pale-brown Mushroom= 49% *If you have a bunch of bodyjizers just sitting in a method of storage, let them be your stamina regeneration item. You should NEVER encounter a situation where you use them all in one expedition (but then again, it depends on if you are searching for ores or gemstones, and how experienced a miner you are). *Plunge into a part of the cavern you feel most suitable to your skill level. Don't try to force your way to the bottom with a skill level of one. Build upon your skills first, then attempt to go deeper. *Head down into the mine early- BEFORE you do anything. This gives you the ability to pace yourself through the mine so you don't have to rush to whatever floor level. Your calm mentality will help you remain vigilant and make less errors. *CHECK YOUR EQUIPMENT!!!! I despise the task of having to tediously jog back home to retrieve forgotten gear, don't you? If you find yourself constantly doing this and making that same very simple mistake every day, make it routine to check your equipment before you set one foot out the door. Have it become habit to think, "What do I want to accomplish today, and what will I need to do so?" I hope this lends assistance to you, my fellow miner! |

Those tips actually may be a huge help. Thanks! I'm particularly gonna need it for the Gelato Mine (just so I can get the Shining Baumkuchen). But I do wanna complete my mining list and get my tools upgraded.
Funny how I've had the game for a few years and just now get around to asking for help with mining. That put-away-the-hammer bit in particular should be a huge relief. |
