What do you consider a balanced diet? what do you eat? do you count calories?

There are many ways to maintain a healthy eating lifestyle. According to the USDA you should have a balance of 6 food groups.

1. Grains
2. Fruits
3. Vegetables
4. Proteins/Meats
5. Dairy
6. Oils

but that's for us fat Americans.....

My food for today

Breakfast
2 Pork Tamales
Water

Lunch
1 small bowl of rice porridge
1/2 of a cheeseburger
-lettuce
-Tomato
-pickles
1 order Sweet potatoes fries
water

Snack
2 bowls of Rice Porridge
1 Pork Tamale
2 cups of apple juice

Dinner
?

balanced? no : I need more vegetables and fruits and less grains

how about you?

Uh.... >.>

Breakfast (lunchtime for everyone else)
Tea
Chocolate chip cookies

Lunch (dinner)
baby back ribs
boiled sweet potato
a nice, fluffy roll w/butter

Dinner (while everyone else is asleep...)
Depends. Might range from instant ramen to a bagel to nothing at all.

The number of meals I eat a day varies. It's usually either one or two, but sometimes I have three meals. It's pretty rare, though. As for balance? Pahahahahaha.

I made myself a balanced diet because I get sick way too often.
This by no means applied to my time in Japan, this is what I formed back in Australia beforehand, and why I've complained to feeling unwell so often. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

This is my holiday schedule, which is nearly the same as my school one.

Up to two bottles of water.

Wake up, 7:00am - breakfast
Small bowl of oat porridge with water and some milk. Plain, or with honey or walnuts mixed into it.
8:00~9:00 - walk the dog

11:30 - snack 1
Bowl of fruit salad and three spoons of plain greek style yoghurt. Usually consists of almost all the fruit available in the house. Type of fruit changes. Sometimes celery also or other vegetables.

Might go for tea.

3:00~4:00 - snack 2
Usually a handful of nuts and crackers with cheese. Sometimes toast. Might skip this if I'm not hungry, but I usually don't. Swap this out for something else sometimes.

Or might go for tea here.

7:00 - dinner (Preferable time but sometimes it's made at 9:00 like it always used to)
Whatever my parents make, usually homemade and healthy since dad has a bunch of allergies to msg and everything, and I can't eat too much of stuff like that myself either without getting sick. Brother picked up some of it too. It feels like my stomach is going to explode, or I throw up, unwell in general, or. D:
Commonly includes meat, rice, vegetables, spaghetti here and there, varies.
Go to bed around 10:30.

This is what I stick to most days. When school is on, I walk the dog for half an hour after school.
I eat basically on how I feel, and I feel good when I stick to the diet. I do weigh myself every day also. If I seemed to have gained, I won't go for extras/sweets, but I tend to stay the same or lose a little.

Err.....

But really I don't really pay attention or remember what it is that I eat throughout the day.
I did eat just a singular pancake for dinner, however. No syrup, nothin'. And then a ton of candy followed. I mean, if I don't eat it, who is?

I'm like Mizuki in this instance; I typically only eat two real meals, and then snack on something way late at night. Then I started going to the gym and adjusting my habits... then I fell out, and now I'm trying to get back into it.

So, on the times when my eating habits are GOOD, here's what my meals look like.

Breakfast:
Piece of Fruit (Seasonal)
GNC Total Lean 25 Chocolate Shake

Lunch:
Chipotle (Calorie Accumulation)
or
GNC Total Lean 25 Chocolate Shake (Weight Reduction)

Dinner:
Varied, but usually this is where I net in most of my vegetables. A humongous salad (minimal balsamic vinaigrette dressing) with every vegetable known to man, fruit or yogurt, maybe some kind of starchy food (potato/pasta) though I try and steer clear.

In between, I supplement with water, various snacks used to suppress hunger urges (when you sit at a desk, it is VERY easy to eat your weight in potato chips), and so forth. Snacks could be anything from fruit chews loaded in coconut oils, or meal bars.

I think that covers the spectrum.
