Haven't played in a while, but I'm pretty sure you just wait until Winter when the lake freezes over and it's pretty much just sitting there.

Correct.
But it is hard to get on the 100th floor (I'm pretty sure theres a lake down there you can fish in). I've been on the 99th until a hole messed me up to go 20 levels higher, I gave up.

Hey, I can help! I can't believe it...You do have to wait until winter, once it's winter go over to the forest area on the far left near the bottem. The cave is in the middle of the lake, be sure to take a hammer and hoe with you, otherwise they won't let you go down into the mine. Once you get in the mine be careful not to get stuck on the levels that end in 0. If you do you have to go back up and start over....at least in my game. Use the hoe to go down once you get near the end to prevent getting back sent up. Also, you should take some food with you. They're 100 levels, at the 100th there is a lake in which you can fish for a 'King Fish'. I'm not sure what level fishing pole you need to catch it though, sorry. I hope that helps!

I made it down there once and it took a lot of prepared food/healing gas stuff. I'm pretty sure I needed a silver fishing rod, and as a result I caught a Jamasquid (looked like a squid but with a rastafarian hat for the head, the rest was black). He put up an incredible fight and I nearly drained all my energy to get him in. He was worth like 1,000G and no one seemed to care that I caught him. Personally I thought it was the coolest thing they've ever had in a Harvest Moon game.
