I think A Wonderful Life is better, personally. The controls in Magical Melody were hard to get used to.

MM is one of the best HM's out there, I'll admit it. But AWL was my first and is my favorite next to 64.

Magical Melody. There was just nothing to do in AWL, it seems.

Yeah, Awl is just purely relaxing for one. I really love the systems (animal, produce, friendship etc) they're all pretty advanced and the graphics are fairly breath taking along with the sound effects. I really enjoy AWL and one of the best features is watching your son grow up (Actually passed the toddler stage) and everyone in the village as well. The only thing that's not in Awl is I'd like there glitches to be fixed up and also the heaven mode or whatever and maybe you could play as your son and woo' a girl then more characters would move in and yada yada.

I like AWL better. Magical Melody's graphics, sound effects and controls really put me off. AWL was easy to get into and hard to get out of. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

AnWL is my favorite, so that counts as AWL, right?
I like MM, but the view is hard to get used to. Like, I'm used to having the screen look forward and my character facing forward. But MM is sky-view, so it's harder to know where you're going. I still get lost sometimes. (lul.) Plus, the graphics in AWL are SO much better and realistic. (Amazing!) |

Awl was the first Harvest moon game I ever played, I simply couldn't put the controller down!!! But after a while (six months?) when my son was a teen and I pretty much beat the game, I got bored. After the first two years, there was nothing to do. I bought MM a week later, and I have to say, I think I liked it better. MM, that is.
There are so many more choices for partners, places to live, and an actual goal. The two downers that point to Awl being the better game is the graphics and the simple fact that your kid actually grows up. But in MM, you get to buy furniture and organize your house....but in Awl(for girls) you get to change you clothes... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaeyes.gif) Ah!! The choices!!! Over all, I'm going to have to say MM, for the most part. |

it was very hard for me to get into AWL.. I still have not gotten past a few days in game. I don't like the graphics at all, and for me, it's hard to navigate around town. it also got pretty boring fast. I really regret buying it..
personally, MM is better. the only thing is the art style.. I really like "tree of tranquility"s though! |

MM was very good. But I could only stay about 1-2 weeks tops. AWL can involve a couple of mounths in my life. Its just much eaiser for me to pick up AWL then MM, and the other way around for putting it down.

I don't understand. How do you keep yourself busy? In MM there's a ton to do.

I go fish or go to the dig or something thats time consuming. Then sell all the stuff to Van. And I meant MM is just so hard to stay into. I played 2 weeks during our contest in MM. And I played a friggin mounth of AWL.

Yeah, AWL is alot easier for me to pick up than MM. And By far it is still my favorite HM game. I mean it just had so many features that I loved. Your kid growing up, you, your spouse, and the villagers all growing old. And the fact that the kids personallities and looks are all based on your spouse, that is a big part of the reason I am getting TOT it has alot of the same features of AWL, but I'm not sure which graphics I like better, everything in AWL was gorgeuos(sp?), but the stuff in TOT is really pretty too...

Eh....In my opinion, A Wonderful Life has always been the better choice. I like the peaceful, slowly changing life of Forget-Me-Not Valley. Unlike the quick paced, continuously changing life of Flower Bud Village. So yeah, I'd take the wonderful life any day and time.

Magical Melody was smoother, tighter, and a lot less glitchy-- but that's not what makes a game loveable.
A Wonderful Life is just one of those games I can keep going back to. It's calm, realistic, and I have always prefered it to MM. There's something about it's small-town charm that you can't help but love. Plus, MM just seemed a bit to childish in my opinion. Maybe it was the chibi style or something idk, it just seemed kind of immature. I liked the idea of saving the Harvest Goddess, but it just made it complicated. AWL is simple, and that's what makes it awesome. :D |

AWL. It was my first game and I loved the backaround music. There were also many funny events and child development. It comes in 2nd out of all the games, RF coming first (pokemon+HM=Win (surprisingly) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ). Also, from what I remember, Daryl isn't in MM. Daryl is my favorite character in the whole franchise.
