But there's a lot to calculus. Derivatives, integrals? I love derivatives.

Well, the derivative is basically the rate of change of a curve or a line. You should know of y = mx + b if you're even asking about calculus. Well, y = m would be the derivative of that line. It's the slope. Derivatives get a lot more complicated, and rather interesting to be honest.
Let's say I have y = x^2 which is the basic parabola. The derivative would be y = 2x. This is a very simple case, but all I have to do is bring down the exponent of x by 1 and multiply it. If I had y = x^3 then the derivative would be y = 3x^2. The derivative of that would be 6x, then 6, and lastly 0. As you can see the derivatives simplify to parabola, angled line, a flat line (not necessarily at 0), and a line lying on 0. This isn't always true when you get to very complicated derivatives but that works for now. |

Wow, I'm like getting, and not getting this. Probably 50/50. I understand it, but I am some confused aswell. Jeez, if I learn to do this, I'll blow my friends away completely. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
