Tone of the Wiki Options

It's been voted that from now on the wiki should be written in a more formal tone, such as Anissa's page

Obviously not all of the pages are like that, I believe Charmy said that about half aren't. So, if possible, if we could focus on fixing the pages that are already there before starting new pages, that would be preferred.

Please try to follow the example of Anissa's page if you are going to work on a page/create a new one.

It's gonna take a lot of work to overhaul the entire wiki to formal, but I think we can do it, given time and effort. Maybe forming a team to make everything more like that...

Maybe just use Anissa's page as an example to everyone and describe what you should avoid doing and such? A topic and sticky it? Or on the wiki? And further details like the description section pattern and more and more.

And something you should definitely remember to put in is to avoid using "you" and stuff, and instead say "player", or "character", etc.

Just wondering, could one copy and paste Anissa's page on the pages that are faulty and then fill in the details with the information from the old pages?

If that's possible, I could probably help with that clean up then. I don't know how easy or difficult it is to edit Wiki pages. Can you believe I've never done it ever?

I'm a lot more focused on visuals than information in general so I feel like I can't help out as much in terms of page layouts and things of that matter. DX

Going to review the formality of the pages I made, I get a lot of my information from the game as I'm sitting playing it.

But once you get the hang of things, the wiki is really easy to edit. Tables can be a little bit of a hassle though.

Here's the pattern of what most character pages follow (from memory):

-> Cluster (I want to talk about clusters too! You know how some only have bachelorettes/bachelors/villagers? How about access to all characters instead? I played around with this and left some pages messy. What do you guys think?)
-> Box -> Rival/no rival (Rune Factory is listed under Harvest Moon. Can we have a look at these boxes and see if we should add/change anything to them? This one: Only diff - rival/no rival before we go through and fix all the pages)

-> Description
Follows something like:

Residence. Family/who lives with. Rival.

Personality/manner/behaviour/story.

First meet/unlock.

-> Anything important about that character that doesn't belong in it's own page. An example would be Alicia from Rune Factory 2's fortune telling. Probably too small to need it's own page (If necessary)
-> Marriage (If marriageable)
-> Events and Requirements (Table - unless not necessary)
-> Schedule (Table - unless not necessary)
-> Gifts (Table - Unless not necessary)
-> Dialogue and scripts (Table) -> Dialogue: Normal -> Scripts: Scenes, etc.
-> Trivia: Facts
-> Gallery: Additional official images/high quality images of character. Maybe links to videos on Ranch Story channel (Or other if not on Ranch Story Youtube channel)

Reference, etc.

-> Harvest Moon or Rune Factory index

Then, of course, changes can take place depending on what's necessary/unecessary/depending on what's in the game.
Don't forget redirects/disambiguation pages for when searching only the characters name in the search box on the left side! I've added most of them already, mostly applies to new pages.

All the other pages so far.....depends.

Avoid using the second person, speak in third...first? No, third person. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) "The player", "The character", "The protagonist", etc.



Gear, so long as your not posting anything ridiculous, it's okay. There's always someone available to go through and edit any informalities. So long as accurate information is there. Give it your best shot though. ^^

Same with the images. For the boxes, has to be the official art (Unless it's not available for some reason). Other images can be temporary until a better quality can be found. Someone might come by it and be like, "Oh! I have a better image for that." And might try to post it, so keep it up for other odds and ends I'd say.

EDIT: SHOULD I make tables into a template, if I can, and make them a lot easier to edit? Seeing as we're going to be going through all the pages now, we can fix them up as we go maybe.......
Just want to get things which will be on all pages sorted before we go through a cleanup and all.

This is what I was trying to get at. If we want the pages to look formal like Anissa's, can't we just copy and past all of the formatting of Anissa's page, clear out her information, and replace it with the new page information? That would be 'templating' it, technically.

I usually have another page open with a table so I can refer back to it. Once I get into it though I usually remember myself what formatting goes where, but it is a lot to get into! D:
So, you can follow the set up on Anissa's page.
I looked up "template: table" and pages came up, but it was too late for me to really get it. I'll give it a try when I find the time.
If I can make the template, that can just be applied to all the new tables for whoever wants to use it I guess.

I have to go to Aiwa today, so maybe my break after I'll try this. ^^
