I'm a little surprised that you're playing as a guy. I thought for sure that you'd start off as a girl and cross dress once it became available.

Yeah, someday same sex couples may make it to the Harvest Moon scene. But right now it's still pretty controversial and with Natsume's "MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY" slogan going right now I figure me crossdressing and marrying a man IS the closest thing...but I bet that's why Natsume left it in. Honestly, if I'd kept up the pace I was going the first three or four days I was playing, I'd be in year 3 right now, but the game got kinda boring and I couldn't.

And yeah, crossdressing is about as close as we're going to get to same-sex pairings in a Harvest Moon game for a long time, I think. It's close enough for me for the time being, but I'd still like to be able to woo any of the candidates as either gender of protagonist.

I think the most unfortunate thing is that it takes a while to make it to that portion of the game unless you blast through the plot. I don't think I bought my first outfit from Yuri's (which is actually this adorable green raincoat over a white dress) until my second week of Fall.

Earlier, my best friend made the joke that my farmer should be called 'Consumer Whore' instead of 'Claire Farron'. My response? It's not my fault that the game only lets you use 6-letter names! In Japanese this is never an issue.

So... the only thing I have left to do to complete the plot of the game is win an Advanced Class Animal Festival. Whoopee. I'm only missing three villagers total, and I have the blueprints for the house of one of them, the Witch Princess, but I don't have the materials necessary to build it yet. I've gotta visit the Ancient Ruins (which is ridiculously expensive to visit) to get what I need. The only other villagers missing are Kosaburou and Sandra. I need to give Hana a few gifts to obtain the former, and the latter will show up once Summer comes around.

I want to say that I'm having more fun, but this game's just a damn drag at this point. I'm gonna complete the plot and chunk it. I'm bored.

Someone please tell me how to get my crops over 1 Star, because I need to win a crop festival.

Fertilizer seems to only raise it half a star...

I actually said something about that to that girl, Lunia, the other day. Try watering it only once a day or once every other day in order to extend the amount of time it takes to grow. The longer the plant is growing in the ground, the higher its star ranking will be if you fertilize it. You can't make the seed maker until later in the game, so right now, that's your only choice.

Until they're harvestable. Once they're harvestable you can't fertilize them anymore and you'll have to harvest them and turn them into seeds. (If they're single harvest crops. If they're multiple harvest crops, just harvest them and then go back to fertilizing like you were before. They'll keep gaining stars.)
