Title: The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins

Published by Scholastic Books

Book Length: 374 (Hardcover/Paperback - Original cover edition)

Book Synopsis: In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's placing the games. But Katniss has been close to dead before -- and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Review: The book is a fairly faced paced (once you get through the history and prep) and gives you a lot of details that seem insignificant at the time. If you enjoy character based novels, this book does not disappoint.

Recommendations: Highly recommended for 8+, parental warning for graphical language.
Rating: 10/10

Additional comments: This was made into a movie by Lionsgate in 2012.

Why does everyone seem to suggest that book? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

Title: Hounded
Author: Kevin Hearne
Book Synopsis: Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old—when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power—plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish—to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

Review: If you love mythology (and not just a particular kind, but all types) and you love old things being modernized, then you'll no doubt love this series. The beginning starts off great, and it only gets better from there. :)
Recommendations: Normally I'd say adult, but uh, if you're a young adult and you like your language slightly strong and your sex plentiful, I'd say go for it.
Rating: Since I don't usually believe in 10/10, I'll give this a 9.75/10. :)

trolling? me? nah! I prefer my ladies to be of legal age and not have to read about elephantish things like that. It's just all I hear about when people ask about an amazing book people should read. I prefer people to read Eats, Shoots and Leaves. It's a book about punctuation.

A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons. ‘Why?’ asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. ‘Well, I’m a panda,’ he says, at the door. ‘Read the manual.’ The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation.
‘Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.’
