So, this here is the official timeline, everyone.

I never thought of there being a third split where the Hero of Time fails. But, man, I know I got some game over screens when I was first playing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

I think someone in the comments on that page actually laid it out better.

The timeline only splits into two - Child Link's future and Adult Link's future. The Hero of Time failing wouldn't be another split in time, it would be an alternate universe. It makes more sense and is less anger-inducing when you think about it that way, as him failing creating another split in the timeline is just lazy writing. (Though, really, that entire timeline seems pretty lazy if you ask me.)

The one thing that timeline does prove is that Minish Cap takes place before OoT like I always thought.
