My dad promised me that for Christmas, he would buy me one HM game and after narrowing down it came to SI and ToTT. Which one is better? I heard that ToTT was disappointing.

I'd pick A Tale of Two Towns, myself.
I didn't consider it a let down at all, personally. It was Sunshine Islands that I found to be lacking. Really though, I'd say it'd be wise to base your choice on what you actually want out of your Harvest Moon game. What kind of gameplay are you looking for? Do you want a game with a long plot or a game that you can get the plot out of the way with as quickly as possible? (Or a game with no plot, in which case you'd be far better off getting Grand Bazaar if you don't already have it.) Do you have certain gameplay aspects that you've seen in previous Harvest Moon games that you want to see again or that you hate and want to avoid if at all possible? Another factor to consider would be the cast of the game. If I were you, I'd take a good look at the cast of both games and decide which characters you like more. That'll really be the deal breaker, since it's hard to stay interested in an HM game where you hate the characters you're supposed to interact with. (Unfortunately that happened to me with Animal Parade. The gameplay was fun, but I absolutely despised the characters and ended up dropping the game out of boredom.) ....In other words, give us more information on what you actually want out of your game, and we'll be able to give you a better-informed opinion on which game you'd enjoy more. |

Depends... I haven't played ToTT myself, but I found Sunshine Islands to be lacking something. I guess after playing IoH it just didn't seem as fun. It depends, like Mizuki said, on what kind of game you like.
If you already have Island of Happiness, then I suggest getting ToTT, because there aren't a lot of differences between SI and IoH. |

I gotta agree with them. After owning both I say go for ToTT.
SI had some features that were too bothersome to overlook >.>. But if you tell us more about what you like it is possibly SI is the better choice for you. It depends on the person. |

I went with Tale of Two Towns. Two Towns has some pretty neat additions over SI. Plus, if you order from the Natsume store you can still get in on that alpaca plush that comes with it.
