The game:

Cave Story is a charming sort of shooter similar in some respects to Metroid. You'll hunt for items and secrets as you blast your way through environments. Unlike Metroid however, it has a variety of characters and a more laid out story rather than sorta looking for it yourself, as was the case of the last Gameclub game. This is another Japanese-made game built by a one man team that managed to snag the attention of western audiences when a translation patch was made by Aeon Genesis; a site well known for it's work fantranslating quality titles. The game eventually met enough success that it was released properly on such services as WiiWare and upcoming is even a 3D version of the title for the 3DS. Thankfully, the original is still free.

General Gameclub practice:

The general idea of the gameclub is to play through free games we can all find and play easily and for anyone to jump in and discuss them. The games should typically take about a month or so to play and afterwards we will move on to another game someone has found/knows about or if the game is particularly short (or uninteresting) the change could happen sooner. This not only encourages people to play games, but to also go out and find them. Hopefully this works out.

Ehh, I'll try and see. Doesn't say anything, though, but I'm sure there's a Mac version. I've really been wanting to play this game!

Now I can tag along with you guys! :D I have downloaded it and will start it tonight, probably. I am confused on how to actually start the game. The "enter" button does nothing along with many other buttons....

I haven't played in a while but use a and x and the arrow keys..... Q was menu and escape to close...? And another to temporarily close.
Anyhow, I think Novi defeated the robot thing in the labyrinth. I MUST CATCH UP.

EDIT: Z jump, X gun. S is to quickly change your weapons. You can aim your gun upways, and jump and aim your gun beneath you. And on this computer, the windows button between alt and fn minimises it.
PHFFFFT. I'm all jiggity again like when I first played. I can't defeat the robot thing like this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I need to get used to it again....
