Topic title says it all! The new name for Oceans is, Rune Factory: Tides Of Destiny I'm not really crazy about the name changes, Azel is now Aden, and Sonia is now Sonja. I think Natsume is also changing the main story a little, from what I could tell anyways. |

Why does Siliconera never have RF information posted when I check them earlier in the day.

Cool. I can't wait for it to come out. I am definitely super excited it's coming out this year (supposedly).
Axel would have been a better name in my opinion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) . |

"Oceans" to "Tides of Destiny". How American.

Not really. Tides of Destiny is sorta awkwardly verbose.

Not much of a Rune Factory fan but considering there are no new Harvest Moon games being released and the fact that this is on the PS3 (I have a Wii but it's kind of a hassle to play because I have to change av cables at the back of the tv and stuff) I'll definitely give this a chance. More of a chance than I gave Frontier anyway.
I don't mind the name change since "Axel" would have reminded me of that annoying fangirl favourite from Kingdom Hearts. Also, YOU HATIN' ON AMERICA BRAH?!?! (IMG:http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/625/233292-hulk_hogan___flex_american_super.jpg) |

"Destiny" is kinda overused in titles (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaeyes.gif) . But I can live with the new name. RFToD?
It says the game is supposed to come out later this year. I wonder if it really will or if they'll push it back to early next year. Who cares what other characters are named Axel. It still sounds way cooler than Aden >:(. Although Azel is better than both of those (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) . I am just glad you can change his name because Aden is definitely my least favorite official name for any RF MC. Although Sonja is weird too. Too bad because so far I have always been fine with the English names. But I just can't like these ones :/. |

Default changeable names are definitely a silly thing to worry over. It's the names of everyone ELSE that could get problematic.

I have never really disliked the English names before so I never worry about them. It's only because I know these names and I don't like them very much that I am not too happy.
I think the rest of the names will turn out good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasmile.gif) . |

I never change default names so it matters to me. Even if there's no default name in the actual game I'll look it up to see what's considered the canon name because I'll be god damned if a game's going to make me be creative or original.

When the name Axel pops up, I usually think "Here goes nothin'!", "I won't give up!",
"It's time to switch!", "Here goes nothin'!" Sonja's not weird, though, Patch. It's almost exactly the same and rolls off the tongue just as well, really. |

Aden is meh, Azel was better.
Sonja doesn't fit Sonia's personality, it's just odd(imo). After seeing these name changes I'm really worried about some of the other names. On a good note, I was play RF:3 and most of the voice actors and actresses were pretty good, so I'm not really that worried about the voices anymore. |

You are right Suiko, it's just another way of spelling Sonia. Why Natsmue change the spelling, is it just a more popular spelling of Sonia?
Yeah, I need to stop nitpicking now... I can't wait to see Oceans(I'm not going to call the game by the name Natsume gave it) at E3, it's going to be interesting hearing the english voices. |

I mainly see the spellings Sonia or Sonya, myself. Maybe they were going for an uncommon spelling.
I hope we get some bonus item when it's released. |

Yeah Sonja isn't as bad as Aden but I still think it's strange that they changed it to that.
I never got the RF2 per-order bonus and they haven't had one since (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasad.gif) . I guess RF is popular enough that they don't need to encourage people to pre-order. |

Personally, I like the new spelling for Sonja. Sonia kind of looks wierd to me. I think the names were changed to fit the somewhat Scandinavian/Nordic setting. (Yes, there is a difference between Scandinavian countries and Nordic ones. Apparently Finland doesn't consider itself Scandinavian, but thats another story.)
I'll admit that the setting is also kind of Greekish, but I also see some Nordic influences (the runes for one). Looked up the meaning for the names. Sonja is a form (aka same name pronounce/spelt different) of Sonya which is a dimunuative (kind of a shortening or nickname) of Sophia. Sonja is Scandinavia, Finnish (see, I told you), Slovene, Serbia, Croatian, and Macedonian. Sonya is Russian and English. They both mean "wisdom". Aden is modern English and a Form of Aiden, which is the Anglicized form of Aodhan, which is taken from the Irish name Aedan (maa~ this is getting annoying, unfortunately this is a common occurance with name origins and meanings). It aparrently means "fire". I'll help with name origins when the other names are released. |

I don't mind the change in spelling, but I keep pronouncing Sonja with the "j" sound instead of the "y" sound. And that feels weird. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
I personally like the name Azel but I don't mind Aden. Azel is just cooler. Either way though, I tend to change the name of my characters since I love being creative and whatnot. |
