I have an old (G1) DS that has remote sensing, but no wi-fi (or one that I can find).
Should I buy a new(er) DS so I can ann..er..join in on the pokemon festivities? Financially, I cannot afford a 3DS cause I get paid monthly and only for 8 months/year (schools don't pay when you don't work). so, does anybody have an idea where I may find a relatively inexpensive (I budgeted $85 as that's what I can spend without going broke)? thanks in advance. EBWonder *edit* - I finally get RF and my L button is being stupid (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasad.gif) |

Your DS has no Wifi? What do you mean, because mine (Which is gen 1, nice and silver) is connected.

I don't know where to set it up. when I check the settings, there is no MAC for me to connect to my network. the G1 DS had a port to plug in a network card, but not internal wi-fi. I know the DS lites had wi-fi connectability.

If you have a game with Wi-fi, you set it up through your game.
As with Pokemon, you scroll down to something with Wifi and go through the process there. EDIT: *Got DS now* If you own Pokemon SoulSilver/HeartGold, scroll down to the fifth option after the introduction and it says "Nintendo Wi-fi connection settings* :D? |

Any wifi game will have that option. Just try some out, your DS should be wifi compatible.

I still own the old DS, too. Never upgraded.
Did you ever look into buying that white WiFi stick thing that you plug into the computer USB port? Do you have one of those? It's been so long, but I don't think the set up was too hard. You just have to have your computer on while you use the wifi. EDIT: I got it out of my Wii box. Nintendo WiFi USB Connector, that's what it's called. |

It's probably more your internet and less your DS.
For example, I have a DSLite and it's totally incompatible with my home internet and most local Wi-Fi locations. There are two places in town that work with my DS. Nintendo's website has a Wi-Fi locater that may be of help to you. It's usually a pain to go out of your way for Wi-Fi, but it's free. (Unless you have to spend a lot on gas if it's far away.) |

Yeah, everyone has already said everything, but I'll try and say something important.
I think you may be able to trade in your old DS towards a DS Lite to get a cheaper price. If they still accept the originals. And if you still want a new DS. |

It still surprises me people forget. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) No news from Rising Star whatsoever, but the DS has no region lock so if I get sick of waiting I'll probably be able to buy it online somewherwe. How's yer Internets working? |

Yeah DS Lites are discontinued now so you should be getting good deals on them. Shame you can't get a 3DS- as thats probably better to jump on with the start of the next gen.
