Its mighty depressing watched a lot of looping footage this morning on the news as I was depressed more and more with each playing of the earth quake rubble and rumbles and after shocks and tsunami preparations

...........This actually reminds me of a really good anime. It was called Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and it tried to present a realistic outcome to exactly this situation.

Japan has always known that this was a possibility, but no matter how much they speculate or prepare, none of it will ever be enough for the real thing.

Yeah, I heard about this last night.

I just can't believe this past year and why we're getting so many earthquakes and extreme weather all over the world, it's horrible and we usually are used to seeing these kinds of things happening in very poor areas in the world and the larger countries since this doesn't happen as often we don't expect to have to deal with this.

And seeing these particular videos is just, ugh, no words to explain it. I hope I NEVER have to live through something like that, imagine how horrible it'd be to lose your home and basically everything you own and most likely people you love.

It's really horrible watching some of these videos. There was one with a little car just barely escaping this flood. There was a house on fire and it looked to be floating in the water.
There has been a lot of crazy things happening.

But yeah I also wnpant to donate a little bit to help. I think it is estimated at $10 billion in damage. But then there's people who lost loved ones and that's irreplaceable..

Exactly, you can't replace humans, pets, or family things that ahve been passed down, cause you gotta think, Japan has such an old culture, and I'm sure a lot of stuff has been lost {but I'm also obsessed with WWII and I'm just thinking of all the swords and stuff that would've been from then -.-}.

Yeah, I've spent quite a lot of money donating to these different things over the past couple months. Pakistan, donated to Haiti even though I was a year late {extra money this year to spend and finally a paypal account}, New Zealand and have donated a sh-tload to Jumping For Heroes.

But I know even with the money they get it still won't make a big difference, look at Haiti, it's still not even close to getting back to anywhere close to liveable.

Unfortunately, Idler, most of Japan's 2600+ year long history was dismantled, burned, or otherwise destroyed during the Meiji Restoration in 1860's and 70's. Furthermore, what managed to survive that was really only brought to light after World War II, when they were making efforts to recover Japan's history. Also of note, in World War II, Japanese soldiers mainly used western artillery, not swords. The last era that the sword was really considered a militaristic weapon in Japan was prior to the Meiji Restoration, though they did see some continued use beyond that time.

The loss of historical relics as well as family heirlooms is probably miniscule in comparison to the number of lives consumed by this disaster.

Sorry, I didn't mean like the ancient ones, there WERE swords used, that had been passed down used during WWII, cause why would the Westerners be supplying Japan when they were never an ally?
And I didn't mean their acient history, I meant passed down war stuff, that again, was still unique to them during that period of time.
But I understand what you mean.
One of my dad's old friends father, who was at the Pacific front had swords that he had sent home from finding them along the way. A lot of them would be cut off though, because it was easier for them to carry around something smaller than like a fulled sized sword.

But whatever, this is meant to be about the earthquake and I had to bring up WWII haha, my obsession can't stop.

But yeah, I also said that, I'm not comparing losing heirlooms to FAMILY MEMBERS! I was just saying that that sucks also. -.-

So far many famouse seiyuu, mangaka, and singers have reported themselves to be fine on their Twitter acounts. This includes Katsuyuki Konishi, Yoshiki from X Japan, Bisco Hatori (Ouran Highschool Host Club's author), everyone from CLAMP, Sakurai Takahiro, Shimizu Ai, Suwabe Junichi, Ishida Akira, Kubo Tite, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, ORANGE RANGE, and Eiichiro Oda (One Piece).

Personally I'm worried about Gackt and Hidekazu Himaraya (Axis Power Hetalia's author). Himaraya lives in one of the surrounding prefectures near the major damage.

Luckily no one has been confirmed injured or worse. I'll try to update when I get any new information.

Yeah. They started mentioning that about twelve hours ago or so. From what I understand they've already had one explosion. Let's just hope they can get the rest of the nuclear reactors under control before something worse happens.

I don't really keep up with the news all that often, but I know that's this is really quite a problem. Hoping and praying that things start getting better soon. Perhaps when I get some extra money I'll donate a little. Kinda tight on cash lately because of my wisdom teeth removal operation was a bit expensive and I've been out of work because of it.

I think things will get better though. I'm sure that with help (which the many nations of the world seem to want to supply) and determination the Japanese can pull through this.
