Okay, Starman's EBFGP has inspired me to the idea of us hosting a Harvest Moon playthrough. I was thinking of combining with other sites and possibly getting well-known members to host some plays, but this all boils down to how many people would actually do so. I was thinking of something like Winter, but perhaps Summer would be best? Tell me what you guys think, and add suggestions!
I know Darth has tried this many times, but I figured we could both try to get some stuff going. |

There is the intense problem of
A: Technologies and B: People SUCK. I think the only way something like that would get going is if a total revamp to our site's image based on the wiki being appealing to other fansites and this place being sorta a joining of efforts for them. Otherwise, other fans will never care and it's pretty obvious that everyone that's already here is lazy. |

We could just use regular webcameras, if it really came down to that.
People do suck. :| WE'RE A HARVEST MOON SITE FOR A REASON. He'll, I'd combine with Otaku if it brought us some lively viewers. |

People are pretty much the key feature here. The simple idea of bringing people together is pretty difficult, especially if you wanted to bring people together to do something like this. Which I doubt most of them have ever done before. If they have though, that'd be pretty swell since they could tell everyone else how to. Of course, before you could even start on that, there's the simple and undeniable fact that we're all different sites with different ideas, different priorities, and their own special levels of fandom to help and fandumb to hurt. Starmen sorta had the lucky break in being the only major EB fansite, allowing them to have full access to their varied community. HM doesn't have anywhere NEAR that. Particularly, if you wanted to start from HERE, we've probably got the LEAST influence EVER.

If I remember, there was a person from a group akin to (or were?) The Speed Gamers who do the livestream games for charity thing and someone stopped by to ask if it seemed like a decent idea to use HM. I don't remember if anything came of it though.

That's part of the idea. I think the one that's most appealing to Toast, but the entire event that helps make it interesting is a bit more complicated. Starmen/Fangamer's fanfests are pretty well organized events, especially in the last year or two where the ustream has come into effect along with the typical stuff. Essentially, not only are they playing and discuss the game with people watching and chatting and playing their own copies, but there's also extras for every gameplay point, as well as encouragement to make fan materials to post on their forum. EarthBound, being the basis for the site to begin with, has special treatment in that there are also several rewards and stuff beyond the basic badges or whatever. Badges being the inspiration for our medals and work more or less the same. Except we're a bit more prone to giving them out for whatever.
All the crazy stuff they do aside however, the Funktastic Gameplay and Funfests worked essentially how ours do before it got to where it is. Except with a lot more participation thanks to it's more centralized fanbase. Something that we'd have to work pretty hard to have even a resemblance of, considering how the HM fanbase is so amazingly splintered it's not even funny. |

I have a webcam...but I only have ToT and Animal Parade.
If there's any way I can help, let me know. |

Darth's spot on here. I liked the idea of the communities getting together and throwing an event where some well knowns are playing Harvest Moon on some sort of live event to spark some interest in the series. Honestly, the idea is far-fetched; we're much too split apart as far as communities go. Then there's the fact that technology is hard to afford, I'd be happy with a webcamera but I'm not sure how great the quality would be.
Bascially, Darth has got the correct outlook. I sort of hope we can find some way to bypass the two problems though. |

If anything, maybe something could be worked together for the notable event of the JP 15th Anniversary. Though that's like, next year. Two years for the US one though. There'd have to be a mess of organization and diplomacy to try to get the major sites in on the idea though.
