Rune Factory Oceans, A new RF for Wii/PS3 announced! Options

Call it bitching, but I really wish they would first make models on par with SquareEnix graphics (or at least on par with Xenosaga), and THEN discuss 3D body language. As long as HM/RF models are created from [even if drastically improved] fifth generation recipes, portraits will remain my preference.
Besides, RF anime style contributed a lot to hotness and cuteness of the girls, which is something far less conveyed in 3D. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cowannoyed.gif)
Well, at least I hope for some 2D artwork to accompany the title.

I agree with everything you said, 3D models are't going to get the job done when it comes to showing off the characters in the game.
Unless you have graphics like The Last Story.

Anyway, I'm happy that the loading time is going to be faster in Oceans. In Frontier, I would always seem to lose interest in playing the game for a couple of hours, because of how the loading screens would come up every two minutes (in game).

I thought the 3D models were really good in RFF, but were they good enough to remove the portraits. I'm not sure. Either way I'm really excited to hear more.

I really hope they have at least one character from a previous game. Rune Factories always do, and that is a feature I really like.

I'm wondering if Oceans is the start of the Rune Factory timeline, because it just seems like it might be time to explain why the main character always just appears one day (Note I have never played a rune factory game except for Frontier) and doesn't know who he is or where he came from.

The 3D models don't look like they are good enough to take the place of the portraits.

But then again... they are pretty good looking.
The 3D models might be a plus if you can see the models breathing, blinking, lip-syncing to dialogue, and animate as they speak.

There is some speculation about Raguna at the end of RF1. In Rune Factory 2 the main guy eventually regains his memories and everything is explained. And I think that might also happen in RF3 (I'm not positive, since I haven't played the game). I thought this game would be in the future for sure. But what do I know. So far all of my guesses were totally off.

This game looks great! I don't care whether you switch genders during the plot or if you get to choose, I'd like it either way~ Aaaaw, too bad there aren't any bachelors for the girl though. That's sucks, you get a girl but you don't get any awesome potential husbands. B(

I personally like both the designs for different reasons. Both are awesome to me. I'll probably make two files, lucky for me no one else plays RF here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)

The graphics look pretty good, I sure hope the characters in here don't have as big feet as they do in RFF. It looks like you'll be able to get more than a bird's eye view, which is neat. I like Ocean themed video games, (Like Wind Waker for example) so I'm probably going to enjoy this a lot. Can't wait for it to come out. *thumbs up*

Well so far there are only those three girls for marriage candidates. And every Rune Factory has had way more marriage candidates then that. So it's possible that they just haven't shown all of them yet. And maybe if there are other marriage candidates some of them could be for Sonia.

Okay, so the main characters do get their memory back in the games.

Somewhere it said that if you are playing as Azel and flirting if a girl, Sonia will get mad at Azel. Yeah, wooing is going to be really awkward.

I can't wait to see the marriage candidates for Sonia, we have already seen the back of one of the guys, but I can't find the screen shot of it.

Aww sweeet (haha YtAS)! Well from the back he looks kinda girly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) . But that's still cool that there is still hope for a set of Bachelors. The 3D models are doing a pretty good job of showing emotion and junk :B.

And the jealousy thing sounds really funny. I can just imagine Sonia nagging you about flirting with some girl. You can never escape because she is inside your head!!

The jealousy thing made me laugh the first time I read about it, I think we are going to get some hilarious cut scenes between Sonia and Azel.

I'm pretty sure the guy in the screen shot has glasses on, and yeah, he looks girlie. I wonder what the others will look like?

I don't know if we'll get to see some characters from the other rune factories, but I do know that I want to see some islanders!

Yep. Apparently they were originally two people, but they get transported to a "new world" where they share one body with separate minds.


In this screen shot it looks like she does not have the dumb hat thing on. It is possible that it's like RFF where you can change your accessories. I sure do hope it's like that. I don't want to wear that silly head thing the whole game =_=.

Sonia's hat looks like a pot or basket that had it's bottom cut off. I'm pretty sure they put the same accessories program that was in Frontier, in Oceans.

Well I guess it's time to do what I always do when there is no new information on a game I really want. Start making crazy speculations! Sooo I think that there is going to be at least one character from a previous game. And I think it's going to be a character from ummm Rune Factory 3 or maybe Rune Factory Frontier. And I think that all the dungeons are going to be Island you have to raise before you can go to them.

I agree with the dungeon part. Not the Character part. This isn't the same world as Trampoli, and it doesn't have the same protagonists, Everything about this is new so far, so I doubt they'd put an old character in there. Maybe someone similar but....
