Okay. Crazy thing going on. Here goes.

I really want to try out for my school's musical this year, since I have deemed this the only year possible to do so, seeing as next year is a State year for band, and the year after that I'll be busy with senior things. I picked up an application form yesterday after the football game, and read it thoroughly, and it turns out that EVERY practice is at the exact same time as half of the band stuff, including competitions on Saturdays. I showed it to my parents and my brother who is home for the weekend, and we think it might just be new-teacher-doesn't-know-band-kids-like-to-be-in-musicals-disease, so my mom had me send her a notification email.

Currently awaiting reply.

opinions anyone?

Theater is way cooler than band, you'd be better off at least trying something different than doing only band for your whole time in high school.

I'm not joining the theatre arts class. I just want to try out for the play. Band kids do it every year. And band is my life, not theatre.

Is there any way you can leave band for the entire time of the musical and then just come back? Though I don't think that's possible, I'm sure the teacher will work it out with the band people if he knows many want to join.

It's okay. The musical this year is Alice in Wonderland.

Yes, and it also seems like even more fun to be in. I love to perform, but if I was in the band that plays, I couldn't watch the play, as I would be facing the audience, but if I was IN the play, then I could know EXACTLY what was going on.
