This had amazing graphics and I love the cows big heads and the peaceful noises and how your children even got a crush on the villagers children. The background behind the game was amazing and again the graphics were phenomanal. This derserved more than people credited it Im glad it got an award it was a great experience playing this games. The noises were amazing like the rain it felt so real. And I loved all the animals including the goats ducks cows chicken horses and other ones. I love how you could die that was new compared to the other games. All I could say would be an improvement would be the limit of activities though everything else was phenomanal. I still can't believe this was made in the earlier time of harvest moon.

I always like this game the best because your child grew and actually made something of himself. How you even influence what he liked and what he wanted to be. Though, admittedly, I never got past chapter two to actually see what he made of himself . . . but still!
I also felt that this game wasn't quite as monotonous or crammed with characters as the other Harvest Moon games. This one was my first, and I loved it, but when I tried some of the other games in the series - with the rocks and the lumber collecting and the hundreds of recipes and ingredients - I was a bit overwhelmed. As everybody says, the graphics are absolutely beautiful too. |

Sorry I'm trolling back through old topics, I do agree with the graphics, the animals and the overall environment of the game (looks and weather) but as this being my first HM game, it had 3 features that I really missed in the one's to come.
The first was hybridization. I don't know if anyone thought this was a lame idea or whatnot, but oh my god. It was genius. If maybe they didn't have such random names it would be better. Before I got a guide I spent HOURS in front of that two headed talking plant. I bought SE and traded in the original and now my third biggest plot has EVERY 3rd generation tree. The excitement of naming your own plant and waiting to find out what the KFC it will bloom and grow into was amazing. Highlighting being the lightbulbs, the peanut, and that cool eggplant that watered 8 squares around it. The other thing was the family events and your relationship with your child. Rather than having a heart meter and EVENTUALLY he will love you, in this game I loved how your actions with his toddler stage had an impact on the rest of his life. Firstly, he could become happy, sad (depressed), or spoiled being a sort of mixture of the two. Wow. Someone wrote a great guide on gamefaqs to this, but the level of impact this had on the rest of the game was intense. I believe that the farmwork took so little and was very short in time because the developers WANTED you to go through these interesting character interactions. The other thing was how he would grow to pick and choose a career. This was also a very interesting feature and gives you something else to do other than giving blue herbs to a doctor. (lulz.) The last thing was the connectivity to the gameboy game Friends of Mineral town. I will admit the upgrades that you got in AWL were really shitty and overpriced once they actually became available (probably because there was no mailbox >_>) But in FOMT some were cool, such as the new recipes from ruby and the beach house. I wish some of the characters from FOMT would come to Forget me not valley during the trade though T_T. In my opinion AWL and its sucessors were some of THE BEST HM games. I would have to say Fomt, ToT and AM, and MAYBE HM DS (even though it sucked) are the only ones that really keep to the heart of the series, Fomt and Tot being the best games released thus far. (I haven't played Animal March so we shall see how that goes...) And that's mah rant. Enjoy reading. :D |

AWL was probably my first 3D HM game, I got STHL and I didn't like that one, AT ALL. I loved AWL, it was so much fun, and the things you had the ability to do was a lot of fun. I like all of the spouses (Though I went after Muffy), and I liked how the characters looked all together. I liked the child feature, but the ending of the game was so sad, what happens and all...
AWL seems most like AM and ToT, which are amazing, and I hope AM is amazing aswell. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) I also would have liked to see that, and more spouses and choices. I also would have liked more variety and possibilites with the children, though that has been expanded in ToT and AM. 3 spouses doesn't give us much variety compared to other HM games. |

While I still haven't beaten this one, it was a beautiful game. There were three things I liked specifically, in accordance to how far I've played in the game.
1) The environment: It was beautifully rendered, and serene. It seemed so lifelike, you're almost half tempted to see if it was based off a real area so you can go live in it. I really loved the aspect of a flush land with no transition screens. It was simply beautiful, as Katie had first mentioned. 2) The music: I didn't get a lot of the records, but I didn't need to. Breeze, the first song they play, was so catchy and very fitting for the game. You couldn't help but nod your head to that adorable tune. Mmm. I might go listen to it now, actually. 3) The Main Character: I really liked when they started changing him around a little. While I will always have a special place in my heart for Jack, the character from AWL is probably my favorite. Something about his character, it just sort of hit home. I said to myself, "THIS is the character HM should have always had." It just felt right. But that's my over analytical ways of video games. Heh. So yes, I really like AWL. Hopefully that doesn't change |

When you mentioned Breeze it popped into my head almost immediately. Its such a heartwarming song. I had gotten a lot of records and maybe only played that record the first year, (this is special edition I am talking about so you can get the records a lot more easily.)
I hadn't played the song in a long time, I remember it was the last day before the dying cutscene, and I put in Breeze and walked around in my farm... Happy, happy days. :D |

AWL was my first Harvest Moon game so it's only natural that I think it's the best one. And I do think it is! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
Yes, it is a very long game, but that's what makes it so interesting and different. I love the graphics(of course). The stars at night and the ocean were soo beautiful, I've spent so much time just pressing Z and looking all around... I feel like it might have been better with slightly better Japanese to English translation, but the characters are still all-around interesting, and the animals are so cute! I just love AWL, I think it is one of the best. |

Reviving dead topic, but while A Wonderful Life was my least-favorite game in the series so far (of those I've played), I do have to say that I loved:
How each location had its own unique musical theme. I wish music had been a constant throughout the village instead of only playing within range of certain locations - I didn't have the Mineral Town hookups, so I couldn't get more records, leaving me stuck with two themes on my farm - but I did appreciate how each building in the town had its own personality in that respect. I also loved the graphics. The character designs, while not my favorite, were cute and enjoyable, even if I wasn't terribly fond of the characters themselves. The valley itself was one of the most gorgeous locations I've ever seen in a Harvest Moon game, and I'd love to see other Harvest Moon games (like Back to Nature and Island of Happiness) remade with those sorts of graphics. The gradual shift from season-to-season was stunning, as were the changes throughout the day, and with the weather. Unfortunately, I didn't like too much else about the game, but it definitely had its strong points. |

I loved the detail they had put in the surrounding, and how you don't have to look at your characters from a bird's eye view. The detail was AMAZING! You could even see the shadows move slowly during the day! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaeyes.gif) I loved how the season's changed slowly and how the animals looked. I was also a fan of the heroine designs.... But not a fan of the bachelors of AnWL as they were quite dull. I loved how you could see some of the wild animals.
Also, I liked some of the little side stories, like when you hear something about a character that you never knew before until you happened to walk in on them at the right time. I also enjoyed the mini games they had. The music wasn't have bad, but I was glad you could stop the music or change cds so you don't have to listen to it over and over again. |

The game was real.
And why would anyone hate AWL? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/emot-iia.png) I liked the graphics; they were so attractive. There were chapters; everything was so real. People were okay though; I expect a bit more. But other then that, it was more realistic. It needs some more events though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalatounge.gif) |

A Wonderful Life got very boring given so little to do. It also dragged on far too long.

I can't remember much, but I didn't hate the game. Yes,it did get boring after a while but I was still loving it (: The farthest I've ever gotten was when my child was STILL a toddler. >.<; I was pretty slow on the game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalatounge.gif)
I have to say, however. I liked Magical Melody much more then AWL. But AWL is pretty special in its own peaceful way. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalasmile.gif) |

I think I liked this game more than most people, since it was one of the very first HM games I actually owned (only ever rented Save the Homeland when I was pretty young), and I loved the graphics and the fact that there weren't a billion loading screens. I liked how realistic the animals were, compared to certain HM games where the animals look like their heads are going to explode any minute.
I guess my favourite part about this game was that you aged and so did everyone else in the village (well, besides the doctor for some odd reason), and you didn't live 100 years. I also loved that your child actually had a personality and had a life path instead of no matter who you marry the kid is always the same or stays a very young toddler. I also liked how whatever person you married the kid would look like them. Yes, it's downfalls were that it dragged on far too long for some years when nothing exciting really happened but I think it was still one of the best HM games they've made and they obviously put a lot of work into to it... Not to mention I don't remember any glitches in this one.. |

AWL is one of my favorites. I only had a few problems with it (lack of things to do, the fact that you had to keep impregnating that darn cow, and jeez some tool upgrades would be nice, atleast a watering can that did more than one square at a time) but with those problems it had a lot of good with it too. I liked the family growth, which would be better in more games, the scenary(spelt that wrong) was awesome in it too. Hmm... I guess that's all the nice I do have to say about it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) Oh yeah hybrids were cool in game if you knew how to do them along with the seed maker. I guess it's just so great to me because it was my first HM game.

Before I got rid of the game, I loved the animals, and children. The graphics to me where out of this world. It was calming for the most part. Especially looking at the ocean, just wanting to relax after watering crops, taking care of your animals, and making friends.

Well, I liked the graphics (especially in the spring), and how you could milk your cow without a milker. Also, the child events were fun, and they could have different careers depending on how you raised them.
