Is this any good? I was thinking about either getting This, Assassin's Creed 2 or Lost Planet 2 this/next week.

I enjoy the game, but admittedly I'd probably buy something more actiony if I were you. Harvest Moon is always a laid back game to me, which has its problems in that it's not always exciting.

Well, done with the first six days and I have several first impressions. :]
A. They really should be more obvious with the whole, "don't open the case thingie holding the disc" thing. 'Cause before checking yahoo answers about how to open it, I very well could have broken the game before ever playing it. 8D; [/PSPnoob] B. Though the graphics (facially and lighting wise) are, in my opinion, somewhat left to be desired, the whole area is charming and after some getting used to, I can navigate this new territory without much issue. C. Is it just me, or does the main character look like he's gonna break his wrist every time he opens a door? D. The game itself takes a few in-game days to get used to, surely, but once you get past the first few days, you're hooked. F etc. THAT RACCOON IS SO CUTE. [/spazz]. Yays. :D Funny thing is, I still don't really know how to officially turn off my PSP. XD |

So what, did you just buy a PSP for this game then, Katie? Well, I'm glad you're enjoying it!
To turn the PSP off, slide the power button and hold it for a few second. The light should flicker a bit. |

Haha, yup. A used one, though, so I had to go in and erase all the data this one guy had on it. He had some good music that I kept, though. Ed must've been his name. So I guess I technically got a free memory stick out of the thing. >:]
I figured that. But like, is the game supposed to be right where you left off when you turn it back on? Or did I just put it to sleep or something? |

You just put it to sleep. Another great feature is that the game will sleep should the battery die on you.
To turn off the PSP completely, hold the power button longer. It takes a few seconds. |

For flowers, once Summer comes, you can forage certain types of flowers....
For part time jobs, you don't actually have to be there at the beginning. For example, Bob's job is from 8-5, you can come in and work any time between those times...This means that you can do 2-3 part time jobs a day. Note, I know this is kinda late, but for the ponytail issue, I think those were screens of StH, because in StH, the protagonist has a ponytail... |

I got this game a few weeks ago and I think it's fun, but I didn't really enjoy StH. I guess it was too hard for me to understand when I played it. I was still a kid when I first tried it and I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing. Anyway I have a question about HoLV what is the max number of hearts? I have Gwen at the yellow heart color and she only has four hearts. Does that mean six hearts is the max amount of hearts.

Yes, 6 hearts / or red heart (next to her name when you talk to her) is the max.

I just started playing it!...Er, not sure if anyone's still hanging around these parts, but I'm probably on about day 3 by now and am just trying to find my way around. I agree it's quite easy to become lost, and I'm not altogether sure how everything works yet (especially the barking dog. How do you make it go away? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif) ), but trial and error is usually the way to go for me! I'll try not to bother you all with questions about how to progress, but...If something becomes really difficult to deal with, I'll ask!
I guess my first question is, what do you do with all the BUGS you get from the trees?? Can they be sold? Thanks! I hope more of you all come in to join me a little bit! ^^; I guess most of you have already finished the game, though! |

Hello, glad someone else is playing this awesome game! :D
Firstly, there are two dogs if you haven't seen them yet--the little tan one and the larger dark brown one. They'll keep appearing on your farm, and if you put food in their bowls (milk & fish are their favorites, I think) eventually you can pick one up and it becomes your pet dog. The dog can help you find items and progress with certain parts of the story. As for the bugs, you can either give them to Tim and he'll pay you 10G for them (type of bug doesn't matter) or you can check the different stores around and see if they want you to deliver a certain amount of a bug to them by a certain time for a reward. Hope this helped! Come by and ask questions any time. |

So you got the game that's great. I did beat it awhile ago, but like I said I have no problem talking about it still. You should definitely listen to Katie she is a pro at Hero of Leaf Valley (and Save the Homeland (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaevil.gif) ). But I will try to help in whatever way I can. Or if you just want to discuss the game.

Thanks so much Katie and Pumpkin Patch! I'm sorry that it took a few days to get back to you. This is...unfortunately my work week getting the best of me. That along with summer fatigue has made for not so many energetic awake hours when I get home from work. :( Thanks for your patience with a late reply!!! Thanks for the info about the bugs and dogs! Still haven't gotten around to focusing on the dogs because I'm so busy just trying to get a few chickens and saving up for a cow at the moment! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lalaexdee.gif)
I'm REALLY loving this game, though. It has a lot of the same qualities of AWL that I love, so I'm thrilled with that! I'm going to be leaving to actually go and do some translation work on the tricky parts, though (good kanji memorizing exercises - can't think of a better way to make them stick, for me! ;) ), and then play a bit more now that it's finally Saturday. I haven't really had any glaring troubles with this game yet...Unless there's a way to save the game so that you don't begin in the morning every time. I leave my PSP in standby mode most of the time while I'm playing, but it seems to kill my battery, so I'd rather not if I can avoid it at all! Anyone know how to do that?? Thanks again! :) :) :) |

I have never found a way to get past the one save per day thing. That was one of the annoyances that actually bothered me. Usually I can easily get over little things like that, but I always save like crazy in games. So it was really hard to get used to only saving once.
Wait are you playing the Japanese version? |

Sorry again for the late reply! Heat exhaustion seems to be running rampant in our house the last few days! Yeah, I'm in Japan and don't have easy access to the games in English. I'm studying Japanese anyway and want to become proficient, so I figure it's good training, but I get caught up on some of the more difficult kanji characters from time to time. ^^;;; All part of the learning process, right? So far this game is pretty light on the complex kanji, though, so I'm grateful! :) |

Oh wow that's impressive. English is my only language and I can't even kinda understand any other language. I hope you're feeling better. Heat exhaustion is serious so don't push yourself too hard.
